I thought I was the best fabricator and Welder. Until I met Kyle Hogue. I got school tonight. This has to be one of the most professional and knowledgeable places. To get all your custom and aftermarket car, van and truck two and four wheel drive needs. In California. Located in Paso Robles. On the Central Coast. These guys are the best.

I was heading out on a cross country road trip and need to replace my shocks in a timely manner. The Bilstein shocks I wanted were not readily available and most place had them on back ordered of at least 6 weeks. Taps Truck & Auto was able to located and install them with 3 days. There team is friendly, helpful and efficient with top notch customer service!

Dear Future Customers,I want to start that I have only heard great things about TAPs and that is why I had choosen to go there for my new camper shell. I originally got a quote that was higher than I wanted to spend, but told myself it would be worth it because everyone had said that TAPS would take care of you.I ordered my camper shell on November 24 and was given a 6-8 week timeline. On January 18th when I hadn't heard anything I called to be informed that the manufacture was waiting on pieces to be shipped. No big deal overall as I could understand the shipping delays due to the nonsense of the world at the time.On March 3rd, I received word that my camper shell was in and scheduled installation the following Monday. I was excited it had finally arrived. As I went to arrive for my installation appointment I received a call that a mistake had been made. The installer had accidently notched my camper shell for use with a lumber rack (curious as my rack already had a Thule rack installed on it). I was frustrated but took a deep breath as getting upset would have solved nothing. I told myself it's TAPs, I have only heard great things, and they will make it right. They reordered the shell hoping it would arrive faster than the first. On March 23rd, it arrived and they called again to schedule installation. The earliest appointment they had was April 5th. I asked if there was any way to get it put on sooner given the wait and circumstances above. I was assure that if they had any appontments available I would be called.Today, is April 5th and my camper shell was installed. As you can see they couldn't find any way to get it installed earlier despite their earlier mistake. I showed up for my 3:30 appointment, was told it would take an hour and they would call. At 4:50pm I received the text message it was ready. I went it to pay the balance. Despite everything above the final price was to be as originally quoted. They ran my card and told me it was ready out back. It was clear to me they were more focused onwrapping up the day than to ensure I had received a quality experience. No one in the office even acknowledged the challenging circumstance around the arrival and installation of this particular camper shell.I went around back and the shop was a ghost town. No one checked in to make sure I understood the feature of the $3,000 purchases I just made or showed me any important maintainance tips or items that might have been relavant. The keys were already on my key ring so I must have been good to go. I accepted it for what it was at that point. On the drive home I noticed they didn't take the time to wash the gummy reside from the factory sticker off the outside or inside of the campershell window, something I just spent the last 30 minute taking care of myself. Glad I payed $115 dollars for the professional installation, a service that ultimately created more grief than support.I am and never will be the person that will yell and scream at people working to do their job even when they make mistakes. I wish the best experience for TAPs future customers but I am disappointed and I will probably look elsewhere any future Truck and Auto accessory needs.

I went to Taps for two reasons. They were rated high and listed on SuperSprings as a installer. I brought a Sumo Spring suspension kit in for them to install.Right off the bat when I saw the installer reading the directions I was a little bit concerned. BUT when I saw him grinding the upper bracket I called sumo springs to double check if that was needed. NO. I went to the tech Kyle and told him nothing needs to be grinded and that there are left and right specific. But he blew me off so I went to Garrett and told him the same thing. He spoke privately to the tech and then told me the upper brackets were interchangeable. NOT true. Kyle grinded for 30-40 minutes to make sure the bracket would not hit the muffler. The job took 1 hour 21 minutes to finish. Kyle handed me the keys and told me he did me a “Big favor” as it would have been rubbing up against the muffler. I went to pay as Garrett and he charge me for 2 hours. $230. I let it slide as I was happy to have this basically DIY job done as I didn’t have a lift or floor jack.I drove it around and checked under the van to see that the grinded bracket was installed on the opposite side of the muffler, not as Kyle said he did. He flat out lies to my face as he handed me my keys!!!!This job should have taken them 30-40 minutes if they knew what they were doing, they did not! And then I was lied to about their mistake and certainly over charged any way you cut it.When I returned to tell them what had happened Garrett was gone but a woman behind the counter returned me my money and stated that this is not how they have stayed in business for 20 years. Well on this day I made a big mistake bringing in my 160k custom van to Taps because they were not what has kept them in business for 20 years. They were total hacks.I did get my money back but Taps voided the limited lifetime warranty as they structurally compromised the upper bracket by unnecessary grinding a upper bracket by mistake.

I recently moved to Paso Robles and purchased a 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2. Of course, I immediately started building a wishlist of mods and looking for a shop to help me along the way. I found TAPS Truck & Auto Accessories while searching online and read through their reviews. I must say, everything I read was true and then some. They are a family owned shop that deeply cares about their reputation and they clearly take pride in their work. Marlene helped me with purchasing and scheduling my first few mods (running boards and tint). She was extremely friendly and communicative throughout the process and got me a great deal. TAPS also delivered on the quality of the work. I am super happy with the job they did and will be happily giving them my business going forward as I continue to customize my rig. Feel free to follow my journey on IG (@2021_zrr2).TL;DR: Customer Service and Workmanship are A++. I highly recommend this shop.

Not knowledgeable or not honest either way would not recomend. Quoted a price of $550 plus labor for parts to replace a locking T handle on the door of my truck cap and $180+ to re seal the cap. The parts were less than $40 from Sea Shells in south SLO county and even less on Ebay for the door, reseating the cap was a whopping $65 at Sea Shells. Not an honest business or they have no idea what they are doing. For both of those reasons I would recommend avoiding this place.Comical response from Garrett. TAPS didn't even call me back I had to call them back days later to get the quote. So they certainly were not being helpful or trying to help me. He did try to sell me a new cap since fixing the existing was gonna be almost $1000. FYI Sea Shells fixed everything for $120.

I had a tow hitch installed and Taps did a great job. There was an issue with the muffler rattling against the hitch, but I brought it back and they fixed it in 30 minutes. Outstanding customer service!

The TAPS family is always nice and can help find parts or install anything I don't have time to put on myself. Can't beat their experience.
