Just when you think you will have to pay to get rid of your old car or just give it away for a tax deduction, along comes TearAPart to save the day. I got $280 for my old 2000 Mazda when another yard only offered $147. The thing I liked best? The communication and negotiation via email was completed within a day; they must really pump their people up with something strong to get them to respond almost instantaneously. I loved it! - Steve

Tried calling over 30 times, during all hours that they say they are open, and even to both location. Not once has anyone picked up the phone. left several messages, and a week and a half later I'm still waiting for them to call me back. Definitely as efficient as a steer trying to impregnate a herd of cows. I'll take my business elswhere.

This is sad because I always liked Tear a Part. Everyplace I buy wheels, the center caps come with the wheels. Not here. The wheel has to be MISSING the center cap to just buy a wheel. If the center caps are with the wheels, prepare to pay an extra TWENTY DOLLARS. I give 2 stars instead of 1 because they've had awesome staff in the past. I've noticed in recent years they have new people almost every time I go there. Pick and Pull is just as bad. They literally charge extra for each and every bolt and nut that goes with your part. Pull and Save remains the best choice in the Salt Lake area for self service yards. They've had the same people for about 17 years. They know and trust me because they can....the staff can't get to know you when they are replaced every two weeks. At Tear a Part and Pick and Pull I'm treated like a thief. They have to assume that because some customers are. At Pull and Save they know me. After today, Tear a Part and Pick n Pull will be my last choices.

Great place to come for parts and competitive pricing. But I needed to come in before work for my car. Door says they open at 9 but at 9:21 a worker finally comes out and tells us they only have one loader and won't be able to open the doors until 10, there are about 20 people waiting to get in and it's 80° with the sun shining on us. You guys need to change your hours of operation. I was waiting in line and another guy left and goes I don't know why I come here they never open on time. Change your hours if you can't accommodate the open time.

Everything is fine unless you like being upcharged(a lot) brought headlight wiring harness to the table and they charged me 60$. brand new for my model go for 20$ this isn’t the only instance or time they pull this bs I just got fed up with it this last time and I’m not returning here

Low balling on cars!! A 2013 was offered a "TOP dollar" offer of $100! When they will overprice all the parts alone. 100 offer x 1000s of earnings! I knew I wasn't going to make much but 100??? Seeing other comments how did a 2000 year car end up making more?? Avoid at all costs especially if you take out the parts yourself!

Customer service was amazing AND I got a free hot dog! I needed a part from a 2003 Dodge in row 35 so I walked ALL the way to the back of the yard only to find the right side of the yard ends at row 34!!! Row 35 starts where you come out of the building, but it is not marked or where I could see it. I found what I needed and some horns from a 51 Chrysler but I really didn't need the extra mileage on my old bones. PLEASE mark rows 35 and 36 where you come out of the building for first-time visitors like me. Thanks!

This is the worst place to go to. I need to repair my truck and I returned my part i bought and they say i have to wait a week to get my money back. This is ridiculous they don't have to wait a week for my money when I buy the part why should I have to wait to get my money back when they already got there part back. I have never been more unhappy with a business in my entire life. I will never come back to this place again and if your reading this I recommend you go somewhere else like pull N Save or pick n pull. But if you can avoid tear apart I would do so.
- IIzek Bills
I found the part for my car and paid in full with no issues. HOWEVER, after not needing the part and returning it I was subsequently informed that my return would take a week to deposit back into my account. They need to make this clear otherwise I would have gone somewhere else to handle this. There are plenty of other places to do this same thing, be assured that any future money spent will def be somewhere else.

Very pleasant service, yard was well organized and clean (bearing in mind that it is a self service wrecking yard, and staff can not always control where customers toss excess parts the pull to get to the parts they need), employees were very helpful and friendly, found all the parts I needed at super affordable prices! Will definitely visit again next time I am in need of parts.

Customer service is welcoming and friendly on your first step in and last step out. The best part is everything needed for the customers are there waiting to be tear. It’s crazy to see lot of vehicles and trucks sitting and waiting for customers; fortunately, you tear whatever needed as long as its open. It’s worthy and also take you to an tear a part adventure! Lovely👌

This was the first time I went to a Tear a Part facility. I was quite impressed first of all by the way everything was organized and you weren't traipsing around in mud. They've got the walkways at least blacktopped. And there's a lot of gravel to walk on and where the cars are located. It's easy to find your way around. Now the big question will be when I go back Saturday and purchase items for my car what kind of prices will I get? I will return then. But right now I'm giving it three stars if I get what I need and with the prices I want it'll easily go to 5 stars.

Staff is nice and helpful when you can get a hold of them. I’ve sat on the phone for a long time, they do not answer the phone. They actually hung up on me. I tried to go to other places before Tear a Part. They are my last resort Prices are good however.

Brought back a signal switch under warranty that didn’t fit my vehicle, I had proof of purchase on my card transaction history and they let me in for free to exchange the part! Got the part I needed in less than 5 minutes. Tear A part rocks! I highly recommend.

Don't tell the people up front that it's an effing joke that I was told I needed to have closed toed shoes to retrieve a part I could get without getting my hands dirty. I did EXACTLY what I was told, borrowed a car, drove all the way back, and was refused service. I admit my behavior was out of sorts but NOWHERE NEAR warranting that kind of reaction. If you were going to refuse service you should have told me not to come back rather than wasting my time and my gas money driving to and from. I could have removed that part 5x over in the time it took me to change my shoes. I have two sick kids, a brain injured wife at home having a meltdown down, and ONE car that keeps my family going where we need to get to. I had been being puked on since 5am. This is the only place I can find the tricky tack part that I need without buying a new radiator. Well, thank you folks. I appreciate the opportunity to pay for Lyfts to and from work and doctor appointments.

We’ve been pulling engines and transmissions from this yard for a few years now. I love the ease of checking in and checking out. It’s very smooth and the staff is always so friendly with short/small talk as we check out. Asking things like what are you guys working on? or how’s the shop? Friendly staff. The yard is organized and equipped well enough to meet my needs. The pictures I’ve included or my last rebuild. We pulled an engine from a 2005 Mazda 6 from this yard and put it in a car I bought off KSL that had a blown motor. Keep up the good work Tear Apart!

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with this company. I followed all of the steps, sent over all of the information to sell my vehicle and was offered a generous quote, only for this company to not respond to me, even I sent message after message asking to get scheduled. The quote is only good for 7 days, so when I sent the information again (3 weeks later) I was offered less than half the original quote and the associate I spoke with claimed I was the one to not respond to their offer. This company's customer service is garbage.

I will update my rating if I think it’s deserved. As of right now, I have called 2 times and have sat on the phone in position 1 for 45+ minutes each time. That’s absolutely insane and not okay. What’s the point of having staff? I wish you guys put a little more effort into answering the phone.
- SSkyler Higham
Absolutely horrendous pricing. Way overpriced for USED parts AND I HAD TO PULL IT MYSELF. I could understand the pricing if it was for new parts but no half the crap is cracked or dented. Genuinely ridiculous. If I could put a zero star I would solely for the purpose of pricing.

Over the years I have purchased hundreds of parts from Tear A Part in salt lake and Ogden. As far as customer service I have Always been treated with respect and professionalism by every Tear A Part employee that I have dealt with. I do have one issue regarding the separate sale of an auto trans and IT'S torque converter. Even though they are separate items they are one unit and should be sold as such. The logic behind this is that when an automatic transmission fails a lot of the junk and broken parts end up in the torque converter. When you sell the torque converter separately you're setting Tear A Part, and more importantly YOUR CUSTOMER, up for failure due to the fact that the perfectly good used transmission is going to fail within minutes because of the crap and broken parts in the old converter. Not only does this cost Tear A Part the sale of another good transmission due to warranty, But it also causes the UNNECESSARY DISSATISFACTION and FRUSTRATION of YOUR CUSTOMER who's just trying to get his car fixed to get back and forth to work to support his family. As an experienced professional mechanic for over 40 years I have replaced with used, and or rebuilt hundreds of automatic transmissions. I have always replaced the converter. When an automatic transmission fails the torque converter is sacrificed by the crap that comes out of the failed transmission and It will terminate the replacement transmission within minutes. A used transmission and IT'S used torque converter are one unit and should be sold as such. To do otherwise sets everyone up for failure. Especially YOUR CUSTOMER who has to replace the transmission again because he can't afford the extra $60 for a torque converter and doesn't know better. This is just the opinion of one experienced mechanic. AS A MUCH SATISFIED CUSTOMER OF TEAR A PART FOR MANY YEARS, I HOPE YOU WILL CONSIDER THIS INFORMATION TO SAVE A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE A WHOLE LOT OF HEARTACHE AND CREATE A WIN-WIN SITUATION FOR TEAR A PART AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, YOUR CUSTOMERS SATISFACTION. SINCERELY, ERIC SMITH, TruthSeeker1BC .

Tear A Part is a great automotive recycler. Their stock is a combination of late model with some older models. Great for DIY and Professional mechanics.
- DDeVeinna Sayer
They helped me understand how it worked and also looked up where possible cars could be for me to get what I needed. Very friendly staff!

Great place. I love what you have done with the yard by paving it best keep yard around. I wish you would bring one to Utah County
- RRandall Parker
Stunningly friendly. Got there late but found my parts immediately. Well organized and laid out inventory. My new favorite Yard.
- DDavid A
The guy checking people in and out was super helpful. He printed out a list of all the cars they had that might have the part I need. The parts that I got were priced VERY affordably. Great experience! I'm going back tomorrow to get more parts.
- JJeff Duncan
Very well organized which made it easy to get in, get the part I needed and get out. Prices were great and saved me 80% on buying online. Highly recommended just don’t forget your tools.

This was my first trip here. I came in not knowing what to do or where to go. The employees in the lobby were friendly and quick to get me going in the right direction. Your tool bags have to be inspected before going in, don't understand why and didn't ask. Your parts also get searched on the way out (like door panels removed looking for stuff.) I had to go in and out twice making two different payments because not everything would fit in the supplied wheel barrow. I only had to pay entry once for the day. The second entry I asked where to fill up my water bottle because the drinking fountain in the lobby doesn't work. It was hot 98F and around all the metal with no shade made it worse. One employee told me there is a sink outside I could use. This sink was dirty and gross with a copper pipe sticking out of the wall covered in corrosion and more greasy filth. I had no choice, I needed water and badly. I drank it and went back in the yard for more parts. The cars are in some fairly straight rows suspended by wheels welded together. The grounds are covered in old parts that people threw around not needed or other reasons. Making it difficult to maneuver a wheel barrow full of parts and not trip as well. There is no order to the yard at all. There's a map showing how the yard is supposed to be but I found that is not the case as it's all pretty mixed. The lobby does give you a small print out of what you're looking for and what isle it's in as well the color. I'll be back because I need more body parts but will absolutely make sure I have extra water with me. Forget about calling ahead. I sat in que # 2 for half hour one day and the second day I made it to #1 of 2 callers after 50 minutes of hold time before I finally gave up. Edit: My review is based on the Ogden location. I'm unsure why my review posted to the SLC location.
