Yesterday on my way back from tx I was dealing with a lot in my head. Traveling home for the holidays and not making it before someone passes is hard. So on my way back to where I live in Alabama and understanding the remoteness of I-49 I decided to stop and help a few motorists with tire problems since I had my tools with me. Tools that I own for a roadside business I own in another state. On the 3rd car a Hyundai Elantra I met a young lady who was stranded and didn’t even know if she had a spare. I told her where to look and she did have one! As I was in the process of tightening the lug nuts a tow truck driver pulled up from this company. Immediately pissed off saying who sent you. I stated no one sent me I’m a passerby and if you need to take credit for it in tow book do so. For those who don’t know tow book is a way we roadside companies dispatch our drivers. Anyway he immediately started screaming it’s a cash call it’s a cash call and then exclaimed someone here is going to pay me for showing up! I said sir the attitude isn’t needed and it’s not illegal to be a Good Samaritan. He immediately called his dispatcher I think I heard him say Kay had sent him the call being extremely rude and aggressive to the customer in which he was there to originally assist. This guy is the epitome of what is wrong with this industry. I understand from both sides and the customers perspective on Christmas Eve of just wanting to be with family especially since I didn’t make it to mine. You never know what someone’s dealing with sir. Leave emotions at the cab and put professionalism on the ground. Your driver was extremely unprofessional in this situation.

After breaking down in Lena, and having no other option but a tow we weren’t sure who to call. Luckily the Sheriff stopped to get gas and recommended American Towing out of Alexandria. Although it took awhile for them to get to us, which in the moment is always frustrating Joseph explained that he had been flagged down by someone else that needed help he was trying his best to get to us. When he did arrive our car was on his truck and ready to go in 15 minutes. We told him of our intentions of just going to a truck stop and hoping to find help there. Luckily Joseph talked us out of getting dropped off in the middle of nowhere and offered to take us to Alexandria. He found us a safe spot with an auto shop and a hotel within walking distance of each other. Thanks to Joseph we were back on the road headed to Alaska just a few days later. Thank you Joseph! Thank You American Towing!
