I had some hazmat that needed to be properly disposed of, and thankfully I live in one of SOCRRA's "member cities," so I bought the $10 voucher from my citie's website and made an appointment (frankly should be free, but beurocracy is a thing.) The hazmat disposal crew was nice enough to deal with; not the kindest or the meanest folks. They knew I was coming, as they don't normally handle lead waste, so their office informed them of my appointment. That was the good, and now for the bad. It was quite the ordeal to find out if my particular hazmat was accepted (lead sheets), and the gate attendant has quite the temper (got angry that I pulled too close to the shack, and almost refused me entry into SOCRRA.) It is unacceptable this day in age to make it as difficult as possible to properly dispose of hazmat, in particular, lead sheets. This isn't something ludicrously hazardous like nictric acid.

Wowsa! South Oakland Country has an INCREDIBLE treasure and treat for its residents! This place is HUGE and takes just about anything for recycling. The people are helpful but it is very hectic and active so pay attention! It is very STINKY! Definitely a "garbage" facility.

Yard waste is still accepted here if you missed the December cutoff for curbside collection. Note that some of the employees can be a bit on the grumpy side, but I probably would be too if I had to stand outside all day in the cold, snow, wind, heat, sun and / or rain. Friday appointments can be hard to come by, unless you're willing to wait a week or two. Also, watch for debris in the parking lot, as I've had a couple of screws and nails in my tire the next day, probably not a coincidence.
