Obviously this place is like Disneyland for a tech nerd, but I have to say their policies are really making me have a hard time considering them over sites like Newegg and Amazon. We bought my son a PowerSpec desktop PC here two years ago, and now we were looking to upgrade his GPU. PowerSpec is an in-house brand that's made by Micro Center. They say to book an appointment online for a GPU trade-in consultation, so I made one at the exact location we bought his PC. The tech takes the GPU in back and starts running diagnostics on it. I came back in 15 minutes, as he told me to do, and he told me that they couldn't take the GPU as a trade in because it wasn't a standalone product purchased at their store. The fine print, of which there is a lot, on their trade in landing page says nothing about the GPU having had to have been purchased standalone. My son's GPU is on record as having been purchased at Microcenter, so this is insanity that they wouldn't accept it. It's in perfect working condition. Also, in the store, I couldn't even find any new GPUs listing the advertised prices from online. Everything in store was $50 more than online, if not more. I traded in our GPU to Newegg and got a better deal on a 50-series than you can get in Micro Center's actual store anyway. Waiting for the package to come in the mail was much better than the time wasted driving an hour each way to their store, getting turned away for an arbitrary interpretation of a policy that's not written on their site, and not even finding the advertised prices of GPUs I saw on their website the very same day. I'll definitely think twice before bothering to go all the way to their store again. I'm only giving them 3 stars because their stock is fantastic, and it's a fun place to visit for the tech-obsessed crowd. Shopping experience is 1 star.

If you are old enough to remember what it was like to go to a really cool computer store like CompUSA where are all of the cool tech computer stuff you jumped about buying was all in one place? Triple that feeling and you are in a micro center. For those of you who have never been to a place like that, this is your chance… They have literally every cool toy and gadget. From the whole line of DJI products to 3-D printers, every gaming controller known to humankind, all there to behold. This place is the chief example of why in person stores rather than Amazon deserve a place in our lives.
