Recyclables used to have separate containers for metal and glass apart from paper. But now the containers are almost full all the time due to people who refuse to break down their cardboard boxes, taking up more space. I went there one day to dump. My metal and glass and guy told me I couldn’t dump because all the dumpsters were marked off with orange tape. He told me I would have to take my recyclables back home with me due to There not being any space. So in what world did this become my fault? If you ask me, this is what happens when you have poor supervision! require people to follow the rules who dump there and everyone can get a fair shake, but I guess that’s not gonna happen. Some people just don’t care.

They upset me because I can barely walk and my wife and I usually go to the dump together. They will sit there ( sometimes 3-4 of them) and watch me struggle. They have even walked over to my truck to see what we are throwing away but never offer to lift a finger! Now, if a pretty girl backs up to the dumpster, she gets allll kinds of help. Maybe I'm just jealous. Today, we had a large load with an appliance on the truck. We knew we had to pay for it ( the check was already written) but we were at the entrance and stopped waiting on our son-in-law to come help us. They came outside of their little air conditioned office and were watching us! They even sent a guy down there (acting like he was picking up trash) to see what we were doing. He never asked! I guess they were making sure we weren't doing a body drop or something. Oh, and it's not just me, ask someone who goes there and they'll tell you the same thing!

6/20/23 UPDATE: As a tax paying citizen in Powhatan County, I am now very satisfied with the improvements that have been made since the event that took place per my review below. Repaving the entire facility has made it much smoother to drive in their facility but their hours of operation posted on their website are now being enforced without closing early or opening later. If they keep up this level of service, then I'll keep my revision of 5 stars. 2022: I will be calling the county office tomorrow to report the fact that they decided to close 15 minutes earlier than the 6PM posted time. I'm a tax payer of Powhatan Co. & I don't approve closing early vs the posted times. With gas being $4 per gallon, you can't afford multiple 18+ mile trips to the convenience center especially when it's SUPPOSED TO BE OPEN!!!
