Gaylord Texan is hands-down my favorite resort in the whole world! There are so many fun activities to do, and what you experience really depends on the season you visit. I personally love coming in the winter—there’s something magical about the holiday decorations, the ice-skating, and the festive events. They have something for everyone, whether you enjoy relaxing by the pool, exploring the gardens, trying out unique dining experiences, or joining seasonal activities like water parks in the summer. The rooms were amazing—spacious, beautifully decorated, and so comfortable that it felt like a home away from home. From the beautifully decorated atriums to the wide variety of entertainment and events, every corner of the resort feels lively and welcoming. We always leave with great memories and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone looking for a fun, memorable getaway!

Tuff Tex

I go to the ICE! exhibit annually and it is always a really fun experience, but what makes this a five-star experience is the Gaylord as a package, as the whole. This past year I also had a summer weekend stay there, which was lovely as well. During my annual visit I typically grab a drink at the lobby bar, visit the exhibit, tour all of the hotel decorations, then head downstairs to Old Hickory for dinner. The food is pricey but fabulous. I've never had a bad meal there although I was disappointed this year when they changed out their breads because their previous breads were amazing. What they have now is good but definitely doesn't stand up to the prior experiences. I also miss the bar staff from previous years. Those guys were professional and helpful and fun, which enhanced the experience. There is definitely an attitude/ambience change with the recent remodel. There is an Italian restaurant there I have yet to try, but hope to do so this summer during my weekend stay. Also, parking fees are not for the faint of heart. I needed to run by the ICE! gift shop for 15–20 minutes and yet I still had to pay almost $44 to get my car out of the garage. I definitely won't be doing a wee shopping trip again (ouch).

Food & activity

We stayed at Gaylord Texan on Christmas Day for one night and had an amazing experience. The temperature-controlled pool was excellent, especially the hot spa/jacuzzi. My kids absolutely loved it. Free towels were provided at the pool, and the poolside bathrooms were nice and clean. We really enjoyed the holiday activities like ICE! with Elf, ice tubing, and gingerbread decorating — perfect for winter holidays and families with kids. The room was nice and clean and included a small mini fridge. The only downside was that there was no microwave, which would have been helpful to warm milk or food for kids. Other than that small issue, everything was great. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying at Gaylord Texan during the winter holidays.
