This is a very historic place. There are plenty of sites to see for a military retiree like myself. They have a full commissary and base exchange with many other shops and services. In passing some of the military members and cadets, they were all very, very polite. This is a very land expansive place as it's located in the prairies of Colorado, which makes it very beautiful.

When people think of the United States Air Force (USAF), they often picture fighter jets, huge cargo planes, and long runways stretching through the desert. But the Air Force also runs some massive bases outside the mainland United States.<br><br>These sites play a major role in America’s global military presence. Some are in Europe, some in Asia, and one is even near the Arctic Circle.

Visited the United States Air Force Academy in early August and was simply awestruck by the history, mission, character and quality of people who first organized the institution, all the graduates over time, and the proud character of the individuals attending the academy. Beautiful campus nestled in the north part of Colorado Springs, with plenty of space and neat, air-themed buildings. The chapel was under renovation/construction when we visited so we could not view it, but there are plenty of images and models around to get an idea of how beautiful and majestic the building is. We don't have any family members in the military, but we greatly appreciated the valuable opportunity to learn about this wonderful institution and the amazing work of the people associated with it. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
