Was on a little road trip to visit family in East Texas when a black and yellow behemoth made of metal and various car parts stopped me in my tracks lol! I definitely couldn’t resist getting a pic of Bumblebee! The giant 20-foot tall Transformer is hiding from the Decepticons at The Bee Mart gas station in the tiny town of Elmo, TX. Why would Bumblebee choose Elmo you ask? Well apparently the owner of the gas station is obsessed - the gas station itself even has Bumblebee murals and a Transformers-themed food menu. The owner had the statue designed and built in China and installed several years ago. Since Bumblebee arrived, the gas station’s sales have doubled - a unique and fun way to attract more business - especially since this is a blink-and-you-miss-it kinda town. It definitely made me stop - as I’m sure it has for many passers-by. It’s a dramatic sight during the day - but apparently the eyes light up blue at night which I’m sure is quite a sight as well. I had actually read about the statue on Atlas Obscura but figured it was out of my way so didn’t plan for it - so it was a pleasant surprise when I just happened to pass by. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area anywhere (but I wouldn’t suggest you go out of your way to see it unless you too are obsessed with all things Transformer).

Any time we go to this part of Texas my daughter loves stopping here! This is a great attraction to have. Also, stop in to the convenience store to purchase snacks!
