Lawhon’s is hands down my favorite place on this side of town. It’s been owned by a local family for many, many years, and you can really feel that hometown pride the moment you walk in. They serve fresh food and also carry a small but convenient selection of groceries, which is perfect when you need essentials in a pinch. Their chicken is amazing, and the sausage and gravy is absolutely to die for. They also have a butcher shop — while it can be a bit pricey, the quality is worth every penny. The meat is fresh cut and incredibly delicious. The cashiers are always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. It does get busy in the mornings with trades and construction workers grabbing gas, breakfast, and lunch boxes, but it’s totally worth the wait. Whether you’re stopping in for ice-cold beer, fresh biscuits, fresh pizza, or quality steaks for dinner, this is the place to go. There’s plenty of parking around the building, my kids love it just as much as I do, and we’re always happy to stop in.
