Very convenient shop. The entrance is in a good spot where traffic is light enough to make for easy turns until the parking lot. The recycling facility is straight in and past the gates. It's the last bump out of the building before the building ends. The crew is straight forward and nice. I was approached within 3 minutes of waking in the main doors. Since I hadn't been there before they told me to wait by my car for the forklift operator who would bring me a bin. The forklift operator was cordial and asked me what kinds of recycling I had, and I showed him my vehicle and soon enough there was a bin sized just for me at my truck. He gave me a magnet, that I got to keep, that I used to find out that the body of the bike I was bringing in was actually aluminum, oh duh, I thought. Then they weighed my steel and iron, and told me to go inside to have my aluminum weighed. There they printed out a receipt with a huge bar code on it. I walked over to the machine and scanned the bar code and bang there was my cash. Super straight forward and slick. Will go again.

Why no longer open till noon Saturdays, us working people can't get there your weekday hours since we're at work, your excluding alot of people, they must be making too much money and they don't need anymore customers.

Great metal recycling center! I've taken loads of metals to sell here over the years. They pay cash and will accept all kinds of metals, just nothing with hazardous chemicals in them still, such as refrigerators or AC units.

today (06-14-2021) was my first time scrapping metal. my brother showed me the process. it was fairly easy. i took pix of the types of accepted metals

I’ve been telling everyone I can about Express Metals for a while now. You don’t have to wait for a special drop off day from your local township; just collect your metals and appliances and such in a corner until you have a good pile, then zip over to them. Also, feel good about not sending recyclable metals to the landfill!!!

Convenient and quick but there is one guy there that is BEYOND cranky. Not sure what in life is nagging at him but I hope he gets it addressed soon. Other than him, great overall. Hoping the owners get him the help he needs.

My can blew over and the guys went above and beyond to help me scoop them up and get them in the building.

Update - went back and I continued to be pleased with the customer service. That might sound strange, but they go through the trouble to separate out higher volume stuff to make sure you get paid versus weighing the entire batch and then moving on. There was a line, but they moved us through quickly. Ideal location. Staff is also exceedingly helpful when it comes to unloading and identifying and sorting what scrap you have. Namely, I dropped off a box of parts that included brass components that I did not realize were in there. The service staff noticed it, helped me separate those parts and that literally added $57 to my payment. They did not need to do that. Speaks to professionalism and integrity.

Revision of my previous review--- 5 stars is still my rating. I've been coming here for several years now, from the first time I went to a scrap yard with no clue how it all works. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and every trip I make is a good experience. They have a very smooth system for customers, whether you stop weekly or are a first time visitor. There are flat carts for loading when you pull in to park, and it's easy to find or wave to an employee if you need a bin. There are a lot of carts, so don't feel like its all gotta fit on one. Sort your metals as much as you can, or know how, but you aren't going to be ripped off for not being perfect; sorting just makes it faster for everyone. If you have no clue how to sort your metals, go inside and look on the wall for price sheets which list types.

Now there is a Fancy schmancy automated teller Very Quick in and Out! Stop by Dock 1 Bargains while you're there.

Been here about 5 times over the last few months with a variety of scrap metals from home renovations. They always have staff ready outside with forklifts for big appliances like a water heater or stove, which releases me from unloading them. You grab a cart and load up any smaller metals or piping. They move pretty quick to weigh all your scrap and get your price settled. They have an automated teller now so no waiting for a cashier after weighing up. Overall, pretty easy process.

Always had a decent experience at Express until today when this wiry guy treated me with great disrespect. He was very condescending about using the cash machine. They held onto my bin and then he tried to make me feel stupid for not making sure I asked for it back. I felt like I was in Jr. High School again. Shame. Used to be a nice place to visit. Not worth the aggrivation.

I had tons of metal donations and each time I’m getting extremely low back for my metals and for driving 40 mins to and from and only getting as much as .70 cents to $5 for the amount of metals I donated isn’t fair. Never going there again as I should be getting paid WAY more for the various expensive metals I bring to them.

Worst experience in years. Been in before but I go in just in case if things/policies have changed. Asked the guy at the checkout can I just bring in my bags of cans on the trolley and roll them in? He says sure. I go and start unloading on the trolley and this other guy comes up and tells me that I can not supposed to park where I am just as I finish unloading on the cart. It was where other cars were and there were no signs or anything. So I shrug and move the 20 feet and park. Then the same guy says I can't put them on the trolleys (which the guy next to me is doing as at the moment and I already did) and goes and gets a bin. Didn't want to start anything so I just start opening my bags to drop the cans in the bin. He then takes them off the trolley as I mention that I want to save the bags. He just looks at me and starts tearing them open with a razor blade. He tosses the bags on the ground instead of the trolley right next to him and then gets back on the forklift. There are still several cans in all the bags he destroyed and emptied. So I bend down to the ground and put those in the bin as well then clean up his mess and put the bags on the trolley. I filled up half the bin with crushed cans and he moves the bin to get weighed. Last time I brought in half as many and it was 40 lbs. Now a half bin of CRUSHED cans is only 20 lbs? Absolutely cheated on the weight and had to deal with the worst person in years.

Always efficient, courteous. This business important for the area, giving a place to rid oneself of scrap, a little or a lot. Prices good.

Terrible prices, the staff have no idea what number 1 copper is “as defined as 1/16th of an inch thick.” They don’t have regular number one copper prices apparently or clean number 1 only the bare bright option which makes no sense they are literally committing theft to anyone who has no idea what different grades of copper are and they also weigh everything with the cart on the scale which means even if that cart is gunked up with grease or god knows what else on them I’m sure they still go off the set weight of a brand new one. As if all of them weigh the same, or have the same wheels or whatever the case. I swear these days you can never find a recycling establishment that are honest and are not always ripping ppl off one way or another these days.. I understand that they as well need to flip it to make a profit but that has nothing to do with the person(s) who come and to say least, keep your business up and lucrative. Would never return here for any recycling at ALL. Also would not recommend it to anyone ever.!Thats just my opinion though.

I've used Express about a half dozen times so far. I was impressed. They are helpful and friendly unlike the old style places. Always quick and fair. They've even separated stuff that I had mixed together to give me a better price.
- BBob Rezac
My buddy and I took a large load to Express Metals today and we were impressed with how fast everything was unloaded and processed. Everyone was very helpful and fun to work with. We would like to thank Kelly and the guys for their outstanding help. We highly recommend using this company for all of your recycling.
- MMyron H (MG)
They screwed me over big time I had 10 pounds of #1 copper, 6 pounds of stainless, 5 pound of brass and 40 pounds of cast aluminum. They gave me my receipt and every item on it was 2 pounds or less i'm glad I didn't bring my trailer with a bigger load. I should have realized that the guy weighing my stuff asked me to stand away from eye shot of the screen so I couldn't see the weight totals.
- RRebecca W
I love this place! Quick and easy way to get rid of old metal goods and make a couple bucks at the same time. The place is run efficiently - not much for small talk or smiles - but you'll be in and out quickly, and that's always nice.
- II Am The one
They are the best at their job good prices and very fast the guys are all very helpful. Great place to go to get rid of all your scrap
- SStephen Shimizu
These guys have worked with me .in explain how I should prepare my aluminum boats to recycle for maximum value to my self, and saving them time .nothing but aluminum . All foam removed. All wood from transom to deck to floor removed. All hose and wires everything removed. Takes between 3 and 6 days in my days off to bring down to just "dirty"alumimin thanks guys for being a great neighborhood spot..
- NNeil Skelly
Been to a lot of scrap yards. Have not been to another one since I started coming here. Everybody is willing to help and they treat you fairly. I am a pipefitter so needless to say I get a lot of good stuff, I always make sure to kick a little back to the employees that help me out. I can't imagine this is an easy job for these guys, Scrappers can be rather unfriendly in my experience. Thanks guys for all you do and always making it easy to make a little extra money. It's also nice to know I can leave my heat in the truck when I go to the scrap yard as opposed to some other ones if you catch my drift.
- BBubba Louis
Super low prices on aluminum. Not worth the drive for $0.08 per pound. Two cents per pound on steel. They take advantage of people's good deeds by giving nothing out. I should have gotten at least $10-15 and I got 1.42 for recycling a bicycle. Better is to dump it and let them sort it out at the waste handling plants like they already do.
- VVictoria Foss
Convenient, but staff has turned recently. Disappointed in our service today. We usually have a pleasant experience, but staff seemed pretty disgruntled today.
- MMatt Kauffmann
Worked great for me. I just wanted to get rid of the old grill. They took, weighed it and gave me 4$ bucks for their trouble. A lot easier than Hennepin county (who in all fairness have a really hard job of managing what people try to throw away and bring into Hazardous Waste.)
- CChris Frickie
These guys are crooks. I brought some sinks in there and they gave me steel prices because there was a little piece of steel on it. They never told me about it and were rude when I asked about it. Don’t get ripped off by these guys, go somewhere else.
- EEyal R.
Staff looks pretty friendly and professional but the scale is HIGLY inaccurate, I brought in 35+ pounds of steel (the tow hitch alone was 11KG, that's 24 pounds!) and only got paid for 9 pounds, very disappointed for wasting my time and gas driving there.
- BBlair B
A clean scrap yard in a safe environment. Employees were extremely helpful when it came to sorting out the different materials that I brought in. I was surprised at how short the lines were for the amount of people dropping off material. I plan on returning very soon!
- MMark G
Nice people. Quick and easy. Well organized. They keep the parking lot clean too. I didn't pick up a nail in my tire, like I did at another metal recycler.
