This is the first genuinely bad experience I’ve had in 10+ years at the Battle Creek O’Reilly Auto Parts, and it was disappointing enough that it deserves to be shared. We came in today because the wiper blades on one of our vehicles stopped working effectively. They are sold with a 1-year warranty, and we still had a few days left on it, so we expected a simple warranty exchange — exactly like I’ve done many times over the years when a product fails early. What made this even more frustrating is that I had just been in the same store two days ago buying wiper blades for my 2024 Chevy Equinox. During that visit, an employee actually told me the blades on our other vehicle only had a few days left on their warranty, which is why we came back now to handle it. To make it even clearer we weren’t just there looking for something free — we also purchased a rear wiper blade today because that one had stopped working and wasn’t bought there previously. So we were actively giving the store more business, not just trying to swap something out. Unfortunately the manager was extremely rude and dismissive about the entire situation. The problem apparently became the exact wording my fiancé used while explaining why we were there — which shouldn’t matter when the product is still within the warranty window. One of the employees even seemed willing to process the warranty but said he couldn’t go against the manager’s orders, which tells you everything about how the situation was handled. What makes this even more disappointing is that this store used to be run by a manager named Shane, who was excellent — professional, fair, and customer-focused. That level of service is exactly why we’ve continued choosing O’Reilly’s over other auto parts stores in Battle Creek for so many years. Customers come to O’Reilly’s because of the service and the warranties you advertise. When a customer who has been loyal for over a decade comes in within the warranty period — and is still buying more products at the same time — the last thing they should experience is hostility or attitude. I’m hoping O’Reilly corporate sees this, because this location used to set the standard for customer service in Battle Creek. Today’s experience was the exact opposite. I would genuinely appreciate someone from O’Reilly Auto Parts corporate or regional management reviewing this situation and clarifying whether this is the level of customer service and warranty support customers should expect from this location moving forward.

I always thought an auto parts store is an auto parts store is an auto parts store is a......you get the picture. After years of being a shade tree mechanic, I have learned that is simply not the case. These guys have knowledge, but acknowledge they don't have all the answers. They don't make you feel dumb, and they aren't pushy. They have what you need at competitive prices. Sometimes even what you need for your boat!

I usually have a good experience at the O'Reilly's. Today was a little different because an employee stopped assisting me and went outside to do a code reader on a car for another customer. I felt a little offended. I mentioned it the other associate working there. His reply was, "We are short staffed after 2pm." I told him that is understandable but first come, first serve. I asked him to remind his coworker later without making a scene. He shrugged me off I feel, so I making a review and showing the time and date I was there as proof.
