Customer reviews of Lake City Toyota Service & Parts in Little Lake City, FL
4.8 stars based on 30 reviews- CCory Chambers
This review documents a factual account of my experience with Lake City Toyota Service & Parts regarding a brake line repair. On the evening prior to service, my vehicle was towed to Lake City Toyota after a brake line rupture. The failure had already been identified by Mavis Tire in Live Oak, where the vehicle was placed on a lift and the damaged brake line was clearly diagnosed. Due to part availability, Mavis recommended towing the vehicle to Lake City Toyota. I scheduled service in advance with Erica, who confirmed a 7:00 AM appointment, advised that the required part could be obtained the following morning, and provided an initial estimate of approximately $800 ($102.48 parts, ~$683 labor plus tax). Prior to towing, a Mavis head mechanic directly spoke with Lake City Toyota’s parts department, repeatedly and clearly describing the failed component. Written documentation describing the damaged part was also provided to assist in correct identification. The vehicle was delivered the night before with keys deposited in the overnight drop box. At 7:12 AM, I received a text message stating that I would receive a video inspection shortly. No inspection video was ever provided. Between 9:13 AM and 9:35 AM, I attempted to obtain a status update via text and phone call. No proactive communication occurred. Upon arrival at the dealership at approximately 10:30 AM, I was informed that a staff member had only recently departed to retrieve parts — despite the vehicle being scheduled for service at 7:00 AM. When I inquired whether the vehicle had been brought into the shop, I was informed by the service manager that it had only been visually reviewed in the parking lot. Nevertheless, a staff member had already been dispatched to retrieve parts. At approximately 11:15 AM, a technician first physically inspected the vehicle in the service bay and confirmed the same damaged brake line previously identified by Mavis. At that time, I was informed that incorrect parts had been ordered based on Lake City Toyota’s internal interpretation, without first confirming the diagnosis through inspection. Following this delayed inspection, a revised estimate was issued totaling $1,368.11 ($269 parts, $953.74 labor plus tax), representing a significant increase from the original quoted amount. Given the vehicle’s inoperable and unsafe condition, and my need to travel approximately 1,000 miles, I authorized the repair under protest. Shortly thereafter, I was summoned to the service manager’s office, where both a service advisor and service manager directed accusatory statements toward me regarding the incorrect parts order. During this discussion, the service manager acknowledged that the vehicle should have been placed on a lift prior to ordering parts. It was then disclosed that this meeting was prompted by a one-star review submitted by my wife, and the interaction appeared intended to pressure us into removing the review. I declined. I subsequently requested a meeting with the General Manager, Bob Shows, at approximately 1:45 PM. Mr. Shows was professional, receptive, and appropriately addressed the situation. Following his involvement, the correct part was received around 2:00 PM and the repair was completed at approximately 3:30 PM (1.25–.5 hours labor). Absent documentation supporting an additional 2.5–.75 hours of labor attributable exclusively to brake line removal, preparation, or ancillary procedures outside the installation window, the billed labor total of $953.74 appears inconsistent with the work performed. Timeline Summary: Scheduled service time: 7:00 AM Actual inspection and start of repair: 11:15 AM Repair completion: 3:30 PM Original estimate: ~$800 Final charge: $1,368.11 While I appreciate the professionalism demonstrated by Bob Shows, the handling of this repair by the service department reflects significant procedural failures, inaccurate quoting, lack of timely inspection, and inappropriate customer interactions. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Lake City Toyota Service & Parts.

My experience with Lake City Toyota Service and Parts went from frustrating to outright unacceptable when a Service Department manager attempted to intimidate and bully me into taking down an honest review instead of addressing the issues that caused it. Let that sink in. Rather than fixing their broken communication, poor service, or lack of accountability, management chose to apply pressure and intimidation—an absolutely unprofessional move that speaks volumes about the culture of this dealership. If this is how they treat customers after the money is spent, imagine how little they care once your vehicle is behind the service bay doors. The service department itself was a mess: missed calls, vague explanations, shifting stories, and zero ownership of mistakes. I had to chase updates on my own vehicle, only to be met with defensiveness and attitude. No transparency. No urgency. No respect for my time. But the real line was crossed when management tried to strong-arm me over a review instead of doing the one thing reviews exist for: listening and improving. That behavior alone tells me everything I need to know about how this place is run. A dealership confident in its service doesn’t bully customers. A professional manager doesn’t threaten or pressure someone for telling the truth. And a business that values its reputation earns it—it doesn’t coerce it. I will never return, and I strongly encourage anyone considering Lake City Toyota to think twice. There are plenty of Toyota service departments that operate with integrity, professionalism, and basic human decency. This is not one of them.

So went in for a trade in quote and was wanting to buy a car. I love the toyota brand. I meet with Andre and another guy and we went thru my trade in told them what I qualified for with my bank and a round about what I was looking for. They showed me a car in my range and I asked them to send me the information for the car thru email to discuss with my husband. I pretty much was ghosted and ignored by them and it was a very shame because I reached out to my bank to add my husband to the loan and got accepted a new loan and it was trippled the amount before. Wanted to work with this company and it was very shame they pretty much did me like this oh well your loss is someone else's gain. We went to another place and got 2026 beautiful new toyota Tacoma. Thank you so much not taking my business because you thought I didn't qualify for your business I ended up with better elsewhere.
