I had a very bad experience with A-1 Recovery Inc. I parked after 8 PM near a bank next to a gym because the gym area had no available parking. It was dark and I did not see any clear “no parking / tow-away” signage where I parked. The bank was closed (business hours end around 4 PM), so my vehicle was not blocking any active business. Within minutes of walking to the gym entrance, my vehicle was towed with only two wheels on the ground — with my wallet and personal documents inside. I was left stranded at night on the lot. I had to ask someone to order me an Uber, then track the vehicle to Oldsmar to recover it. To release my car, I was forced to pay $349.22 immediately. I had no real option — pay or lose access to my vehicle. On top of that, I later learned there appears to be an additional $150 fee that should not have been charged (per guidance I received when I filed a complaint with Pinellas County Consumer Protection). My vehicle is a Honda Pilot Black Edition (AWD), and towing it with wheels on the ground can cause drivetrain damage. Since the tow, I have repeated warning lights related to braking/drivetrain systems. The vehicle is currently at a Honda dealer for diagnosis, and I am pursuing this matter further. Based on my experience and the pattern described by many other reviewers, this feels like predatory towing: the truck appears to wait nearby and tow quickly the moment someone steps away. I strongly recommend avoiding parking anywhere near areas where this company operates. (Photos/receipt available.)

Very poor attitude by unit 136 today. Speeding thry my neighborhood with kids playing and I was outside. I will be reporting them to BBB also. The driver was not professional at all. He said he had a camera and tomorrow we will find out with the investor. Took cash only . Had no chance. Showed us a gun also.

Our HOA somehow approved this company as we have no on street parking. They are in our neighborhood 3-4x a week patrolling with no regards to our stop signs. We have a ton of kids playing and they are eventually going to end up hitting someone by ignoring simple traffic laws.
