I bought this battery last December. It sat in my garage most of the year since I only drive the vehicle in the summer. I always disconnect the battery during storage to prevent drain, so in reality this battery only saw about 3–4 months of actual use. Recently, the vehicle wouldn’t start, so I took the battery to AutoZone to have it recharged. They tested it and told me it had a bad cell. Since the battery clearly states it has an 18-month free replacement, they said I was still well within the grace period. When I brought it to Interstate, the manager—an older gentleman with a white beard who refused to give me his name—tested it and insisted nothing was wrong. He said AutoZone “doesn’t know what they’re talking about,” and then told me he could charge the battery for $5. The $5 isn’t the issue. It’s the principle. If you stand behind your product and advertise an 18-month free replacement, that should be honored without hassle. As a business owner myself, I understand that sometimes things go wrong, but you treat customers with respect and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. Both the manager and the younger employee refused to give their names and told me there was no one above them I could speak to. When I walked in, I even heard them in the back sounding irritated and arguing about who should deal with a customer or answer the phone. Maybe they were having a bad day, but I’ve bought all of my batteries from this store over the years, and this experience has completely changed how I view this location. This is not how you do business.
