Not many cities can boast they have a beautiful Transfer Station, Seattle can! Set in the side of a hill, with parks facing residential neighbors, you almost miss it. They have a great viewing room filled with educational toys for kids that anyone would find interesting.

We don't have dumpsters like these in Thailand. We normally pay people a fee to come and collect things we don't want anymore or we just wait for a garbage truck. It's cool that you can toss stuff here and pay based on your car's weight – even if the smell is really bad! It really makes you realize how much stuff we go through and makes me want to cut back on buying things.

Visited the FREE public viewing room of the North Transfer Station this afternoon. Free parking on site, including handicap spots. Wheelchair accessible entrance. Elevator and stairs are available to access the 2nd floor viewing room. Clean, well lit, floor to ceiling windows overlooking both the incoming / outgoing station and the dumping area. Spent an hour there and saw around 25 garbage trucks dump their loads. Informative displays showcasing how the plant operates are hands on, meaning you can play with them. Great place to take kids of all ages.
