I drove across the bridge from the South Puget Sound area from Burien (where options are already slim since Amazon Fresh shut down in Federal Way and Prime delivery isn't the same) specifically to the West Seattle Whole Foods for a custom, made-to-order hot sandwich. The store's own website and Google Maps still clearly advertise "Market Sandwiches: made to order, whether you choose our signature combinations or invent your own." It's right there in black and white, no disclaimers about limited availability or staffing issues. I get there, excited for that warm, toasted, piled-high custom build I've gotten at other Whole Foods (like downtown Seattle spots or Roosevelt Square, where they actually deliver on this promise), and the deli counter flat-out says they don't do custom sandwiches anymore—due to "restrictions" or whatever excuse they're using these days. No sign at the counter, no update on the website, no heads-up anywhere online. Just a bait-and-switch that wasted my time, gas, and appetite after a frustrating drive. Whole Foods (and Amazon) make billions—there's zero excuse for not updating store-specific pages, slapping up a simple sign saying "No custom sandwiches at this location," or training staff to communicate this upfront. In a region with limited Whole Foods access south of Seattle (Tacoma to Federal Way has basically nothing reliable now), this kind of outdated, misleading info is especially infuriating. Customers shouldn't have to call every time or play guessing games just for a basic deli service that's still advertised as available. If you're going to promote made-to-order sandwiches company-wide, either make it consistent across stores or stop false advertising. This isn't a one-off; it's lazy corporate neglect that hits harder in underserved areas. Won't be back to this location, and it's pushing me toward local independents that actually deliver what they promise. Disappointing and unacceptable for a premium brand.

The parking situation here isn't great for larger vehicles, it’s essentially nonexistent with only tight street parking or paid parking with a 2 hour minimum, and the store's selection feels a bit limited compared to other Whole Foods locations. Additionally, the placement of the Amazon pickup area could be improved. While it might work well for those who live nearby, if you're traveling through or specifically need to pick up an Amazon order, you might want to consider a different spot.

I have been using their grocery delivery service and find it cost-effective as well as a huge time saver. My only COMPLAINT Is that some of the staff working on my order are wearing essential oils or fragrances or are around incense. It's disgusting! Gives me a headache. Just got a delivery and my whole house stinks. To the manager: Please ensure people are fragrance free! 40% of the public is sensitive to fragrances: All the way from a headache to having to go to the emergency room. Fragrances are neurotoxins.
