Such a unique typographical region in the PNW. It is probably the most unique area I have ever hiked in. There are several moderate hikes surrounding the mountain and a winter and summer hike to the summit. I recommend going in late summer when the weather is a bit cooler and the wind hasn't gotten bad yet. During the scramble portion of the mt st helens summit, I had to turn around due to extremely high winds in mid September

Mount St. Helens is an absolutely incredible place that every nature lover and geology enthusiast should experience! ? This active volcano is a powerful reminder of nature’s raw force, especially with its dramatic 1980 eruption still so evident in the landscape. The north side views from spots like Johnston Ridge Observatory are breathtaking you get right up close to the massive crater, the pumice plains, and the regrowing forests. It’s humbling to stand there and see the blast zone’s vast, otherworldly terrain while learning about the science and history through excellent exhibits, films, and trails. The hiking is fantastic too trails like the short Winds of Change or longer ones offer stunning wildflowers in summer, wildlife sightings, and that surreal mix of destruction and renewal. The whole area feels serene yet awe-inspiring, with clear air, beautiful sunsets over the Cascades, and a real sense of wonder. Highly recommend visiting on a clear day for the best views! Whether you’re into volcanoes, photography, or just epic scenery, Mount St. Helens delivers an unforgettable adventure. 5 stars all the way can’t wait to go back

A very beautiful place for a hike very beautiful sighting. It was a very hard hike. Make sure to take plenty of water food and a good flashlight. If you are going early in the morning because the woods are very very dark make sure to take the right equipment if you can buy sticks and depending on the season buy Snow spikes for your shoes. The hike took us eight hours and a half. We started around 6 AM. Get prepare for a challenge the Ash makes it harder and the snow/ice also. Have fun.
