Fort Pickens was another in a long list of awesome places of history. The fort itself has some real damage and seems to be degrading quicker than most other forts we have visited, but the stories this place tells and the sheer architectural wonder makes up for that. The fort and surrounding batteries are vast and they spread out of so much of the island. Just the drive out to the fort was worth the visit.

A wonderful historical fort... a huge fort on the peninsula... I am so glad we visited as it was well worth seeing... There is a nice gift shop for we who like souvenirs... Christina was awesome... as well as a snack shop where we met Jim... and Katy, a volunteer was awesome... very knowledgeable about the history of the fort... I would enjoy visiting again another time...

Landmark destination of the emerald coast! Must see area if living or visiting the emerald or Pensacola coast. Fascinating military structure showing centuries old battle constructions. Also marked with informative information posts. If it is a museum visit or camping/beach getaway this is highly recommended. Fishing, biking, cautionary skating are all fun activities able to be done here. My issue is that you pay for a week pass as a a local or visitor. A day pass would be a great option at a lower price than the base 25 dollars for a week.
