Larry, from Auto Cruz Towing, rescued my husband and me. My husband and I had traveled to Santa Cruz to pick up a sports car my husband had purchased on Ebay. The car was sold as running, but it stopped working less than five miles from the seller's house in the middle of a traffic lane! We pushed the car off the road, with the help of a mail man working in the area. When I called AAA to help us to push the car onto a U-Haul car trailer so we could trailer it back to Ventura, they refused to help us. However, they gave us Larry's phone number and I called. After explaining our situation, Larry agreed to come to our location and help to get the car onto the trailer. He arrived within an hour. We could not have done this without help. Larry came alone, but knew others in the place where we were stuck who helped us push the car up the ramp. Larry also helped us secure the car onto the trailer ( a job we had never done before ). Overpriced and no working parts I don’t recommend this place. The owner is rude and make you lose time. They sold stuff like is good but is not. They don’t return money. If your willling to waste your time and money this is the spot you should go. If you want something better you could always call to a professional auto dismantled. This place is useless.

Had the pleasure of speaking with Lawrence about an '02 Mazda Miata today in excellent condition! Unfortunately, it wasn't a good fit for me and I walked away without a new car, but the entire experience at New City Auto was excellent! Lawrence was knowledgeable, personable, and very helpful. Professional, polite, and punctual. I too observed the negative comments/reviews regarding this company; however, I have nothing negative to report about this company. Mike was our contact and the gentleman that made everything happen. He was professional, polite, knowledgeable, accommodating, and helped us get the best buck for our vehicle. He thoroughly explained the process and answered all of our questions. If ever again I need to junk a vehicle while hoping to make some coin off of it, I will definitely be using these good folks again.

Overall everybody that I worked with was very helpful except for the people who actually took possession of my vehicle. The email made it clear to make an appointment with them to come pick up my vehicle. When I called I told the girl that I work till 4:00 and wouldn't be available till after, she said that wouldn't be a problem. Then on the Friday they were supposed to come pick it up I get a call and I told the guy I'm still at work I won't be home till around 4:00 and he said that's fine I'll go to dispatch and let them know. In my assumption that was that they were going to send somebody to my place after 4:00. At 5:00 I called and the woman said well we're closing and we don't make available times you have to be there between 12:00 and 5:00. Well most of us work during the week and in the end I had to get off early and use sick time to be there just at 4:00 and then I had to use the rest of my sick time at work to be there on Tuesday because I had to make another appointment and be home between 2:00 and 5:00. The lack of communication and the misunderstandings led me to have to use up all of my sick time and leave work early two different days. If things are just being made clear to me at the beginning and people knew how to do their job I wouldn't be so frustrated. And I called Cash for Cars and told them and the guy then informed me that they could have just picked up my car and then I could have mailed in the title and received a check. This alternative was never even given to me in the first place. The guy did show up at the time he was expected and picked up my car and he was very professional and everything was done well and he explained to me what I needed to mail in, but I did have to ask. Overall it was a way more stressful process than just trading in my car but I am happy the car is gone and I'm satisfied with what I was paid.

This place has to be one of if not the worst of Bay Area polluters. They have prime port real estate on the Oakland estuary next to Jack London Square between West Oakland and China Town where they crank particulates into the air all day long and frequently have accidents like the massive fire/smoke plume covering a huge swath of Oakland and it’s neighbors tonight. One can only tremble in terror when considering the toxins this industry out into the environment, right in the heart of the San Francisco Bay. Thanks Schnitzer!
