For a dump, this one is well maintained. Roads are clear and identifiable. Signage makes it easy to navigate. All waste sections are visibly marked out and there is no confusion for a new comer. The rate for public dumping is incredibly cheap - in comparison to places I’ve been. I have nothing to say except good things about this location. If there’s one negative criticism it would be that the staff needs to cheer up.

Very slow in and out. I waiting to enter the scales on the way in for what felt like a long time as the exiting lane on the otherwise of the scales let 4-5 vehicles pass. Not to mention $24.90 for a 4x8 utility trailer of yard waste tree and shrubs plus weeks and some old soil. 25 bucks !?!?!? humMmmm

Despite the efforts of the municipality, waste management in Thunder Bay is poor at best. For a developed nation this is the case for most facilities across the country, however given the dense concentration of biodiversity and fragile ecosystems surrounding Thunder Bay, the current containment measures are unacceptable at best.. with the advent of improper disposal of food waste and recyclables comes small rodents and animals at the landfill and within the city itself. This increasing the prominence of other predators in the area such as bears, wolves, racoons and eagles, some of which are protected species. These species not only hunt the rodents but they feed in the waste at the landfill. You ever see a bald eagle with a plastic beer holder wrapped around it's neck? I have, right here in Thunder Bay, one of the most beautiful places in Canada, blessed by geography not cursed by it as John A.Mcdonald would have once argued. Symbolic to the Tragically Hip hit written by Canadian hero, Gord Downey, "looking for a place to happen", we can observe the "garbage bag trees" where a 100 foot chain link retaining wall would have prevented long term environmental impacts such as this. It is not just up to the municipality however to be progressive in their approach and adapt their measures of waste disposal, diversion and containment, but it is also up to the citizens to adopt a #su4cu culture and be more wise about their consumption, their individual footprints based on that consumption and their disposal of waste be that composting or recycling. We can all do our part to preserve a beautiful place and protect it from the stronghold of consumerism and anti-environmental behaviors such as littering, public and corporate dumping.

I always have a wonderful experience at Thunder Bay's most luxurious landfill. From the friendly staff to the beautiful scenery. Any visit to the area is not complete without spending some time here.

Always long wait times, poor organization needs to be revamped in the way they process weighin and weight out. Even on slow days wait times are over an hour to dump ten dollars worth of garbage. Thunder Bay needs to fix this location.

Always a pleasant experience, clean and quick, just a very busy place at certain times of the day.
