Not all AAMCO's are created equal. In stark contrast to the AAMCO Queen Creek on Ellsworth, this AAMCO has their ____ together. Kudos to Chandler (svc mgr) and James (tech) for the prompt diagnosis and repair of a Tacoma transmission that forgot it had an overdrive. The Ellsworth location did a fantastic rebuild a year earlier, and the finicky Tacoma transmission forgot it had an overdrive right after the rebuild. They fixed it in 15 mins with a re-learn. In the intervening year, that whole store essentially fell apart. A nearby Discount Tire replaced the TPMS sensors and the overdrive amnesia reappeared immediately. When I brought it to their attention, they just shrugged and said, "Not my fault." I returned to AAMCO Queen Creek to get them to get the transmission to relearn its shift pattern, and they insisted on dropping the transmission out of the truck for a teardown, to which I told them that this wasn't needed. They insisted it was and I left, never to return. I brought it to this AAMCO and it turns out that my suspicions were correct and that the transmission did not need to be dropped out of the truck. A re-learn was all that was needed to make the overdrive amnesia go away. They also did a very prompt oil change and transmission fluid change. The truck continues to run like a Swiss watch at 223K miles. A chance meeting with a regional manager (Jeff) a few weeks earlier led me to bring my truck to this AAMCO. My experience with Chandler and James was so positive that I made it a point to find out where Jeff was and drive to his location to give him very strong positive feedback about my experience. High marks.
