I chose Apex because they previously serviced my boyfriend’s car under warranty, which gave me confidence in their work. My 2018 Honda Accord Sport began displaying multiple warnings (emission system, brakes, ACC disabled) and I experienced power loss when accelerating. My boyfriend replaced the spark plugs, and the car drove normally for a short time before the warnings returned. Apex performed a diagnostic and told us the codes stored were old and that the spark plug replacement likely resolved the issue. They also recommended an oil change and noted that my brakes and rotors needed replacement, which I had done. I was charged the $150 diagnostic fee, which I understand is their policy, although many shops waive it when repairs are completed. However, when I left the shop my car had a strong sulfur/rotten egg smell, which I assumed was temporary. About a week later the same warnings returned. When my boyfriend called, he was told another diagnostic fee would apply if they looked at it again, although I was previously told something different. That inconsistency made me hesitant to return. It has now been almost three months and my dashboard warnings remain on, and the sulfur smell has become stronger. After speaking with someone knowledgeable and researching the issue further, it appears the problem may be related to the VVT spool valve filter triggering the system warnings. My concern is simply this: if the diagnostic process is as thorough as described, I would have expected the root cause to be identified, especially when the diagnostic fee is firm.

In June 2024, I brought in my son’s 2012 Toyota Tundra for an engine replacement. I paid over $11,500, expecting the job to take 1–2 months. Instead, the truck sat for 8 months, with poor communication and repeated delays. When I finally picked it up, it was returned in unsafe condition — the engine sounded rough, the serpentine belt was fraying, and the dome light no longer worked. After returning the vehicle, I was told it was good to go. It wasn’t. A Toyota dealership later found that Apex had installed a power steering pump from an incompatible vehicle (FJ Cruiser) and reused a damaged pulley wheel they had bent back into shape. I was never informed of this and was not given a chance to approve or deny the use of these parts. I paid out of pocket to Toyota to correct the issue and filed a small claims case, which I won. The court agreed that Apex’s repair decisions were improper and that I was entitled to reimbursement for the corrective work. Over this period, I paid months of insurance on an undriveable vehicle and my son missed work opportunities because he had no transportation. This review is based on my personal experience, supported by documentation, and a court ruling. I’m sharing this to help others make an informed decision. Apex worked well with the company that provided warranty for my truck. Apex provided detailed diagnostics that allowed me to know what work would be performed and the estimate for those services if I chose to do them. The staff was super friendly, and from the time we dropped it off until the time we picked it up we knew we were in good hands. Prices were a bit high compared to some other local places on some of the needed repairs, but we worked with them on the things we could get done and we were super happy with the service.
