I have struggled with whether or not I should leave a review, because a unique incident may be just that, or it may be a pattern of other poor business practices. Recently, I scrapped almost 94 pounds of high quality scrap bronze - when the worker labeled the receipt "yellow brass" instead of bronze. When I inquired they told me bronze and yellow brass are the same thing (while not a specialist, I know that not to be true in general) and I should just cash out. When inside the office, I shared my protest again and another employee came over with the same answer - but to appease me they took out some sort of device which allowed them to analyze the material and after about 15 minutes came back with the statement that in fact it is was high grade bronze and that the composition of the material allowed them to pay me more than the original receipt. I walked out the door with about $55 more in my pocked. Persistence pays off for the scrapper - be diligent and know what you are scrapping. I hope misidentifying metals scrapped is more of an aberration than a general practice. I would state that in general my experience as an occasional scrapper have generally in my opinion been fair, but this circumstance it paid off to have a bit more knowledge of what I was scrapping.

The yard is smaller than I expected, but the workers are very helpful and courteous. If you have a question, anyone working in the yard, even the machine operators, will help you. A busy place, but very efficient!

No point in parking just take your 30 in a fuel island

Their rollaway part of their business is a joke. Said it would be within two days for pick up. Called back a few days later and said the request got lost. Another 2 days go by and call again to be told it slipped their mind. It should not take almost a week to pick up a dumpster. Guys that help with scrap are always cool though.

Coming in all slightly low on. Sertain scrap Parts, such as fully cleaned Copper, and Most Catalytic Converts. Offerred $150 on a $400 kia Katalytic Converter. Than again roughly $70 for a min $120-$200 Katalytic Converter off a Nissan

Shady - came here with a load of scrap metal. I could care less about actual scrap prices as I am not in the business or in any way in need of the money. This was just junk that we wanted to get rid of over the winter. However something is going on here. We had taken a trip to the landfill with our truck and trailer. Went home, loaded up the SAME trailer with scrap and came down to this yard maybe an hour later the SAME DAY. Tare weight at landfill with same truck and same dump trailer was 12,640 lbs. Tare weight at scrap yard magically more at 13,360 lbs. A 720 lb difference in their favor. We make many frequent trips throughout the year to the landfill. We are well aware of the tare weight of this truck and trailer as it has been on the scale at numerous locations throughout the surrounding counties. With weight slips to prove it. While I agree that fuel weight and the number of occupants can cause a variance in your weights, this is a little much. Especially since this particular day we had the same two people both times, and less fuel when being weighed here. When paying by the pound, if everyone is off this much each time, it begins to add up in their favor. Same day, an hour apart. I immediately called after pulling out and looking at both slips from the day and their only explanation was a difference in fuel weight. Mind you, after going to the landfill and home and then to the scrap yard we had burned more fuel meaning there was LESS in the tank by the time we had gotten there. They then tell me I can come back and have it weighed again on the same scale that I have an issue with???? And also go on to tell me that the scale is inspected by Broome County Weights and Measures. Same as everyone else in Broome County such as the landfill we were at. Just want to make more people aware if you make trips often. Get your tare weight a few other places and see if you have the same problem.

Really convenient location compared to the owego site. i have never had an issue with any staff when visiting. I have actually had the workers help me by telling me hey that aluminum not tin or that goes to metal shop not the pile. this location in binghamton is just off the brandywine highway between the 2 bridges with a sign clearly marking it. They accept a wide variety of scrap metal and cars onsite. weitsman does not care if you have a small amount of scrap from cleaning out a basement or if you are a major scrap producer like a business. i personally like that the also pay very fair for what you are dropping off i always walk out with a good amount of cash for what otherwise would be junk.
