Posting for my father , he’s a regular but terrible with technology! Best scrapyard around , I’ve been all over NYS and this is by far the cleanest fastest and knowledgeable . Prices are great! Tall guy out front is funny and very attentive . Office folks are pleasant and helpful. 10/10 would recommend.

Only rating it a 2 , Because my experience hasn’t been the same as far as when I was first greeted a few months ago (give or take maybe 7 months ago) . Nothing against the person there but they just aren’t as happy and pleasant/funny as the last greeter I’ve encountered . I know this isn’t Walmart but it’s nice having a warm and pleasant experience especially coming to a scrapyard since most encounters are calculated and cold , but with your previous greeter I actually didn’t mind coming the far distance just for a few laughs ( intimidating at first since he’s a pretty big guy) the cover definitely doesn’t match the pages 😂. I came a few times assuming he was off that day and later found out he was on leave I’m not sure for what but I’m wishing him positivity and prayers and well wishing and hoping he returns. Other than that prices are decent/ fair and I’d highly recommend scraping here. Haven’t been disappointed yet!

Prices weren’t that good And a terrible experience out in the parking lot. Some lady who seemed to be homeless, was begging for money, asking for a ride. I’m surprised they even let these kind of people hang around there. I had my wife and son with me. I won’t be going back Anytime soon.

First time going to a scraping location . I usually go through a third party , but upon getting there I’m sure it was clearly written all over my face I was bit confused . The gentleman at the front entrance was super friendly and knowledgeable and guided me through my fear and anxiety. Was sure to make me laugh and assure me the people inside would take great care of me ( which they absolutely did) overall this experience was absolutely delightful . Wonderful job having the first people you encounter be so pleasant it makes the rest of the experience worth it!! ( I’m not sure I think his name was Greg or Gary , tall guy nonetheless please tell him thanks again) I’ll definitely be back and recommending my contractor friends!!
- JJamar Johnson
Service was great new to scraping I had a lot of questions all were answered!

Best scrap yard in the capital region and possibly New York State. Very friendly staff that guide you where to go with different types of scrap. Very easy to use truck scales as well as smaller item scales. Heard is completely blacktop and constantly cleaned, minimizing the amount of nails you pick up in your tires.
- MMadison Jones
I cannot begin to fully put into words what an AGONIZING experience I had here. Anthony was insanely rude. Overall, just felt like a daycare in there.
- AAmanda Allen
First off, this facility is the only one around open on a Sunday. Their efficiency in handling metal is second to none, providing a swift in-and-out process that saves you precious time. I really can’t stress enough how friendly the staff are. They’re always willing to answer questions without making you feel like you’re bothering them. Best prices and facility around.
- DDakota Wilcox
Customer service is horrendous they actually close at 5 even though it says 530 one of the employees tried to fight me cause I tried to get paid after dropping my load at 517 worst custo.er service ever I've never been treated so poorly in my life I will never come to this place again and I recommend no one else does too
- JJudy McJudas
I cannot stress enough how awful my experience was. Anthony was extremely rude to me.
- DDonald Edwards
Great prices fast friendly service and they are open on Sunday. Who could ask for more? Five stars.
- BBrian Deyette
Not a good experience. I’ve been there two times and got under weighed both times. The Mexicans speak Spanish and weigh your stuff twice which is interesting. Thought they were worth a try because they claim to have the best prices which may be true. That being said they don’t have honest scales and employees.

Recommend this place to many, almost all. Very clean site, staff has their head on a swivel, so very aware of customers coming into facilities to unload their metal. The only gripe I have is for those confused, first timers or dealing with a truck driver being loaded, getting loaded, or leavening. I WILL NOT Doubt, their job is probably TBE hardest job. Driving for a living, with people given drivers licenses, think it’s THEIR way, THEIR right of way and everything is a 120k vehicle that takes 3 time to stop…. No wonder they’re grouchy, but Ben Wis, should hire friendly customer service to be the middle man….. only ONCE had a flat at Bens, but cleanest scrap year hand down. Wish I could have a job there operating or being customer service. Just gotta watch these guy in the special metal section. Numerous time I caught them listening my 10-14g wire as Romex, which instead of 80%, was like 60% value. They pretend they didn’t understand until I got an English man over to clarify. Great business tho! Wish theyd expand to Nassau area, I’d me HMIC here! I’d love to own a scrap yard! Or run one atleast! Give me a loan Weismann!!!! Pleeeease!!!!

I recommend this scrap yard to anyone, very easy to get in and out. The yard is very well maintained, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the prices are great compared to other places I've been. If you're getting rid of just a couple pieces of metal or a whole truck load this is the place to go.

Everything went well...Everything clean as possible.... employees friendly and helpful and answer every question I had w.o complaint or conflict.
- ZZachary Kittle
Great people and prices!
- MMr M
Excellent customer service! First time there, had lots of different types of metals/scrap and "Courtney" at the main gate/scale was VERY helpful, professional and courteous. The facility was very organized, clean and all the staff I encountered were very polite and helpful! Nice to see in this industry.
- GGerard Sagliocca
They usually have long lines and they keep people waiting all the time ! They worry about radioactive stuff , so they force everybody on the slow Scales system ! They should figure out how to make things go faster
- RRon Bunn
Scam alert they are HORRIBLE!!! They will jerk you if you do not know your metals and wires. They will say Tin when it’s really magnetic stainless. I stripped all of my wires and they gave me the lowest wire when I had the second highest. If you take a chance with them be careful. I am done with them. Just warning everyone else how they scam people.

To start this review off coming from a person that used to work at Ben Weitsman at Albany you may say I’m a little bias, however, a lot of people that work here & even customers can prove and agree to my reasons as to why I personally don’t recommend this scrap yard for various reasons. First reason, it is a very discriminatory place where the Mexican/hispanic & black workers are looked down upon and paid extremely low compare to your typical white male worker. In addition to that they aren’t allowed to move up in position keeping them at a low level, therefore demonstrating and keeping them in a discriminatory and slave environment. Second of all, the management is TERRIBLE. They CAN’T KEEP THEIR WORKERS OR EVEN A GENERAL MANAGER. From what I saw there is a struggle of power between higher position personnel. THIS PLACE NEEDS A CHECK AND BALANCES SYSTEM. Third of all, these higher positions personnel posses an extremely rude attitude and can be very demanding when they’re low staff! Moreover, this place is unsanitary and they don’t follow COVID protocols. There are nails everywhere that can pop your tires, save your self the drive. Not only that the scrap yard in itself is dirty and unsafe. In addition, COVID protocols are not even followed. CUSTOMERS & THE STAFF ARE ALLOWED TO DO WHAT THEY WANT AND THEY DON’T WEAR MASKS EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULD BE ENFORCED. Customers would come in coughing and dirty WITHOUT A MASK. In my opinion, THIS IS A SELFISH MOVE and DEFINITELY NOT CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS HEALTH! Last but not least, they scam people and you won’t get ur money’s worth. I rather recommend going across the river. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN AND DEEPLY INVESTIGATED! THUMBS DOWN!

$12 less a Net Ton For my vehicle because there was no motor. Just another way of screwing us over. Weight is weight. Like it makes a difference to them once they crush it up and ship it out. It’s just a big game they play. Definitely call around and check prices before going to Ben Wiseman.

I was in your office 3 times this week. The front counter staff was exceptional. A young lady, ksmithc is wonderful and a joy to do business with. Thanks.
- SSteven Rohl
Great place....staff was great and helpful. I had a bunch of questions and they were all answered. Recommend this place. Easy to get to, to do and easy to get out. The process is simple, quick and easy.
- DDavid Minkler
Been there quite a few times brought a lot of scrap there the last trip I noticed that the kid in the way in my aluminum I had 54 lb he wrote it down is 21 I'm pretty sure they're scamming people all the time I've seen a lot of reviews like this they speak in Spanish so you don't know what they're saying and if you don't check the ticket you're going to walk away with less money you deserve dirty working that's no integrity
- GGene Doane
I have been there early on both Saturdays and Sundays. Yard is always as neat as a pin, guys in scale house and the "Metal Shop" were very helpful. In and out with cash in hand in 15 minutes. Cleanest scrap recycling place I have ever been to.
- DDave Eberwein
First time I went was good. Easy on a Saturday at noon.... But god forbid you show up at 629 on a Thursday.... Mexicans throwing their phone in your face sayin we closed
- HHomestead Scrapper
Very well organized, sweepers keep metal out of roadways so less likely to puncture a ride, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, prices are fair, scales are accurate and it's spacious enough not to be crowded even during rush periods
- AAndy Duffek
It was my first time there. The people were very friendly and helpful. I have been places that act like you are a burden to them. This is not one of them.
- AAl Nikit
First time here yesterday, and was thoroughly impressed. Super clean, friendly and helpful employees. 1st class place.
- TTee Law
Thought we were getting ripped off here, so before going today with a very small amount just to test it, we weighed it. 36.7 pounds. Guess what weight at scrap yard was? 10pounds. They rob you, go elsewhere... empire scrap in Albany pays you for what you have, the staff is friendly and you won’t leave needing a patch for your tire.
