It's very hot and once you're in the box, your experience get worse, otherwise, the time outside the box is tolerable since there are food trucks and the PX has good items to refresh yourself...

Visiting family it's a very interesting place and very hot here in the Mojave desert. Barstow CA is about 33 miles down a long desert highway and Barstow CA in actually the end of the route 66

One of the more beautiful yet dangerous locations the DoD has to offer. Recommend packing a lunch and wearing sunscreen. Lots of animals, not a lot of safe driving or things to do. Will avoid going back at all costs.
