I WAS ROBBED. I have been a faithful customer for years until recently. I came in with a truckload of mixed products and everything was pulled and separated then placed on the scale according to its type (cooper, aluminum, motors, etc). After everything was weighed, I got my money and sent on my way. I pulled out and realized my money was short so I turned around and talked to the person at the scale about it. There was a little bit of the product left on the scale, probably 1/4 maybe 1/3 still there. I looked at the weight and it said 52 lbs. His way of making it right was paying me for 70 lbs knowing I had at least 130-150 lbs of material. I did call and talk to the owner who was willing to pay me up to 100 lbs but no more than that. They shorted me twice and once I caught them they still refused to give me my full payout. BEWARE IF YOU GO HERE AND ALWAYS CHECK YOUR TICKET BEFORE YOU STEP OFF THE PLATFORM- YOU COULD BE NEXT.

I called and they came. Saying goodbye to a part of my family. I've had this vehicle for many years, but it's time to say goodbye !! I called American Auto salvage to see if they would be able to junk my vehicle or salvage any parts and they said absolutely and they were on their way !!! They had cash in hand for me when the deal was done. SIERRA TOWING was there to assistant 😊 PROFESSIONAL REASONABLE DEPENDABLE I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND USING THEIR SERVICES IF YOU NEED THEM. Thank you for making this such an easy process

My personal experience was great. Went on a Saturday and the process was smooth and quick. I will say this is a great place to search for random parts for cars, appliances, I mean just about anything. I would recommend this place and I will return in the future. I unfortunately don’t remember if the employee who helped me but he was professional and made everything simple.

Don't waste your time. Guy with long hippy hair is very rude and try to talk at you like you are an employee. They don't take copper, and the aluminum can hopper is down most of the time. TMC is right down the road on 46. Go there for better service and price.
- NN F
Was thinking about coming here with a huge load of clean copper until I read the reviews... y'all seem extremely unprofessional calling people a "Karen" for speaking there issues with you or the yard manager or owner who ever it was. Sounds like he loves to just pop off on people for minor things. Might want to think about better customer service, just an idea.

Met the owner! He was extremely nice and helpful. The kids loved to see the Can crusher that makes the Walle cubes! The receptionist was also helpful. They made recycling fun for the kids.

Super cool place. Super cook staff. 100% recommend them.

Not to impressed with the man weighing the scrap metal. I was there for the first time this week. He was a little snappy to me about ask questions if you don't know. Like I've been going there all the time. He talks fast & need to speak up a little so we can hear. Now I was there today for the second time. It was only 9:30 & was snappy to me again. He made a big deal about it when I drove out into the parking lot & back on the scale not knowing the they weigh the radiators in the front. Instead of maybe a smile or a laugh he makes a big deal about it. Gets up on the scale & stops me while he is standing on it & He asked me "How much do I weigh" & then he turns around & asked me again "Now How much do I weigh". I did the turn around & back on the scale thinking I needed to go out back again. I been in business for 38+ years now & still going & I don't I snap at people like that. The rest of my clean Aluminum goes somewhere else. PS I was the guy that was in the White van

I was there early in the morning, and they helped me unload the back when they saw I was disabled. Treated me like family. Great people. Thank you.
- RRobert Fakess
Told the long haired guy I'd never been there. He instructed me to park at a dumpster (which is apparently in a no go zone). I completed a U turn to reproach the scale. He spoke to me sarcastically as if I'm stupid telling me there's signs indicating to not drive through there. I walked over to the area after being paid to verify that indeed there are no signs facing the direction to be read beforehand. I'd rather go to Trademark Metals as I've always done before.

The Patterson Family has owned this business for years. They’re fair and professional and will always do whatever they can to find what you are looking for. Great to see Cliff is taking over for his dad and kept the business in the family! I will always go here for my recycling and other salvage needs. Kenny and Janet were both great people.
- MMike Vermilio
Bottom line, only reason I gave this place even one star is because of the blond guys hair at the weigh in office other then his rad hair place rip off

Great staff and organization.

This is the second time in the past 2 months that I had to scrap a vehicle. Sad enough to start with but the staff at American Salvage are always kind and helpful. Just the professionalism on the phone that made feel like he was concerned and really wanted to help. He gave me the information I requested and when the tow company couldn't pull through they communicated with each other and went out of the way to help me accomplish my salvage goals. So helpful and really made it easy for me. Thank you American Salvage.
- AAli Kat
Extremely rude over the phone when I tried to get a quote. First they want to charge you for towing to take to the shop where they "need to weigh it". Those specifications are easily found online with entering the make and model. Then when you repeat exactly what they say, they laugh at you and accuse you of not paying attention. Will NEVER use! I did read the reviews first but, thought I'd give them a chance since they were over a year old. Told him that I now understand why he received poor reviews, called him rude, and wished him a nice day.

Wow, what poor customer service. Got hell from Kenny the moment I walked in for having not enough steel. Said anything less than 200 lbs, was not worth their time. Told me I had to go through the whole process of fingerprinting, IDing, etc even though I said I had been there multiple times before. He complained that any little bit is not worth his time or his workers time. I said I didn’t need the money, just wanted to recycle and I got the most sarcastic “thank you for recycling” and he pointed me out to the scale area. I met with one of his guys who I told I just wanted to drop off. He asked for my ID, sent me on the scales to the back. I unloaded everything myself, drove back and went to the shack to ask if I was good to go. Whole process took 8 minutes with me doing all the unloading. Kenny storms out complaining about wasting his time again, his workers, that I’m ripping him off, etc. His worker was giving me $2.30 for work that I did and I told him I didn’t even want the money (I left it on the counter for his worker’s tip because at least he was nice). Look, you can tell this guy has no clue what customer service is. This is the 4th and last time I go there. The first two times I was told (by Kenny) both “my guy is out to lunch. Don’t know when he’ll be back,” and “I don’t work in the lightning” on an overcast but otherwise not stormy day. Shame this is the only place nearby. Guess I’ll drive further to do my part for the environment.

First time Scrapping metal,,,, Gel is Pretty much in my backyard but due to Everyones praise Of American Auto Salvage I choose to go out of my way when it comes to Good business especially family-owned.And it was definitely worth it Thanks
- LLer Chas
Prices are the worst in Volusia county. They always have an attitude like they dont want to deal with you, and if you dont know what you got they'll take full advantage of you in a heartbeat. Just go up to the yard off of Garfeild in deland. Much better people.
- JJames Lettau
Great yard love the people i have always had a great experience here and for those that dont seem to understand if they tow your car it will cost you for it cost them and no you cant get the weight offline they have to weigh it themselves so people think before you leave a review and sound like an idiot
- DDavid Dyson
I was permitted to walk the yard in the designated areas. A very satisfying collection of cars and trucks that I have enjoyed throughout my life. I only wish that they had more land and vehicles to choose from.
- MMatt Walker
This place has always been my go to for Knick knack parts and scrapping. Unfortunately cliff didn’t catch me in time before I hit the yard and cut a trailer plug. I guess I got the inconvenience tax... USA made brand new cheaper at Autozone...
- VVincent Cruz
The staff was very professional. Very knowledgeable, much better value for materials you offer. Will be doing business again!
- HHandy Mansfield
called up, said they had the part I needed. Started to pull it the owner comes out and screams and yells that I cant have that specific part, absolutely lost my business for good, nobody I know will ever come to this rat hole. GOOD LUCK WITH THIS PLACE! SHOP ELSE WHERE !

They have a great selection of classic cars/trucks and some new, got what i needed and he was polite and had very reasonable prices, will defiantly go back again.
- JJennifer M83
Brought 800lbs of clean steel and only got $65. It’s under new ownership, so just FYI.. Rip-off yard, not worth your time and effort to bring it here. Go elsewhere.
