It's a little confusing if you've never been. You drive onto a scale and there is a loud speaker that will tell you to pull forward. It's hard to hear what they're saying. I just kept driving into the dirt lot until I saw a stop sign in the middle of the scrap yard. Eventually a very friendly guy came over and took a look in the back of my rental truck and directed me to another area. I stayed there for about 10 minutes while they navigated a fork lift to get everything out. I felt like a little kid playing in the dirt! Giant trucks and earth movers everywhere. The most wonderful part of the whole experience was all the giant mountains of shiny silver bales of recycled cans!!! So glittery!!!! He even took the time to explain the process to me. Such a surprisingly fun time dropping off junk! I loved how friendly the whole interaction was!

Decent recycle yard, wish steel prices were higher. Aluminum pop cans are .75 per lb.

This company has been absolutely fantastic to work with. I have messed up so many times and they're always flexible and available. They have been nothing but professional and understanding with me and I hope to continue to work with them in the future.

Gerdau is a nice place to make a little money with your scraps the only problem is is that it is very dirty and if you have a nice car or truck this isn't the place for you...

See update below: Waited 15 minutes for help no one came places muddy with deep puddles of water I will never go back. I left with all my metal and with mud covered truck and trailer. It's too bad that I can't give a 0 * on here.Update: I have made multiple follow-up trips and have found the employees to be very helpful each time. Still muddy after rain, but that is likely typical for a recycling site in Virginia.

Horrible front desk service. The African American lady at the desk is extremely rude. Take your scrap elsewhere. if the receptionist doesn’t like you she will say the system went down . Im still waiting to speak with Barry Whitaker her manager about this issue. They took my items and said i have to come get my money later the system is down. Customer service is key. Hire better or lose business there are plenty of scrap metal shops in Roanoke

It was extremely slow to try to get in and out. What really should have been a quick stop, especially since there were so few vehicles, took almost an hour. Additionally, the lot was a mess and I ended up with multiple pieces of metal in one tire (one puncture that required repair). Will not be going back.
