After completing an online Driver License renewal application and making an appointment, I checked in on my phone 10 minutes early as the DMV suggested in a text message for a 9AM appointment on a Thursday. The friendly officer inside the front door gave clear directions and asked me and a few others to sit down. The window staff lady was pleasant and helpful. When I asked her how she liked her job, she said that it is "always entertaining." The only line I stood in for a few minutes was for a photo at another window. After the photo, that staff member handed me the printed Interim Driver License. I asked her why my vision wasn't tested. She didn't know, but said I would get my license in the mail in 2 weeks. I was done and back in my car in a total of 20 minutes. The only hang-up was that it took over 5 weeks to make an early morning appointment, so don't wait until the last minute to renew a license. Another good thing to know is that a Real ID driver license didn't cost extra when I got it with my regular driver license renewal, which was $46 in January 2026.

Had appointment but still had to wait 25 minutes to pay fee and eye test. Then wait another 15 minutes for photo. Woo . Security guards were very helpful with directions on what to do and where to go. That improved this rating two extra stars. Without their help it would have been one star.

I normally try to be patient, but this was a really frustrating experience. My son had his driving test scheduled for 1:40 PM, its 3:26 and were still in line waiting. The process is very slow and unorganized, and there isn’t much urgency to move things along. I understand that places can get busy, but the wait time is excessive. If you have the option, you may want to consider visiting the DMV in Norco instead!!!
