The office staff are horrible! They are snide and condescending. If you want to get treated like dirt and leave with very little money for your scrap metal then this is the place for you.

Great staff and great rates. If you're trying to figure out where to get the best rate you're going to want to come here if you're in Southwest Michigan. To my understanding all the other scrap yards just collect and distribute to KMR which does their own processing. (An example would be Broken Arrow in Allegan) To anyone who is looking to try to scam and offload unacceptable material... they have cameras that are recording your plates, you, your payload, and they have alert staff watching also. Do those of us trying to make a legitimate dollar a favor and scam somewhere else. Payment is given in the form of a paper check drawn from Chase bank.

The stuff that comes in here is sometimes good use able stuff and it gets junked. The stuff that doesn't they sell for a lot of money.

Prices matched national average. Dump area was clean, no nails in my tires! Staff was pleasant.

Needed to get rid of an old dishwasher after replacing! Figured I would call this place and try... I called at 3:30 on a Saturday and they were open (I've seen some reviews stating hours were incorrect but they were still open @ 4:20 when I got there too). She told me if I just wanted to get rid of it and wasn't worried about getting paid for it, to dump it in the bin located in front of the office. She was very polite and not rude by any means :-) it was an easy process and definitely less hassle then going through the gates, getting weighed, and getting bare minimal (obviously there's not much metal in the dishwasher). Therefore I chose not to waste my time and just dumped it!

I've been scrapping here about a year, and so far my only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner. I gave up on another scrap yard nearby after the third time they were closed during normal business hours for no explained reason. Came to KMR, which has unbeatable Saturday hours and was paying exactly TWICE the price per ton as the other guys. Plus my kids absolutely love watching the shredder and other machines do their stuff. I recently sold my old car here as well - smoothest car sale I've ever been through. The office staff members are professional but not particularly patient or personable, as I guess one would expect at such a large scale operation.
