Great pricing and help in the yard, the 3 stars is only for the non-ferrous scale; there is a language/communication barrier and I always leave confused but they put it in the computer right and know what they're doing

Went in as a first timer to this location needing a saddle to cradle a split 55 gallon drum for a raised bed garden. Had one thing in mind and left there with an equally sufficient alternative. This is a metal tradesperson's dream lot! I'll definitely be back....again and again!

If you are dropping off, the staff is AMAZING! 5 STARS for them. But the 1 star (and I would leave less if I could) is for the selling staff. Cranky old men. They mean mugged me as soon as I walked in, then scattered. I found something I wanted, and waited patiently till one of them seemed like he had a minute to help me. I asked about pricing, and he said, "I don't do the pricing. You have to wait for so-and-so. But if I had to guess, I'd guess (insert ludicrous price for the item here)." So I waited. And waited. And the guy who told me he doesn't price stuff, went and got an item for another old timer, dropped it on the scale, and started working up pricing for him. So, yeah. Overly rude, unattentive, and price gouge me any time I'm there.

Extremely well organized. The yard staff, though some have difficulty with the English language, are very helpful, articulate, and hard-working. They are way better than some of the lazy, unskilled US born automatic citizens I've had to deal with. Best scrap yard I've seen in a long time. Very fair competitive pricing. Well run yard.

Every time I go out there I get inspired to do another "things on top of things" sculpture (Apologies to Monty Python). Modern technology produces almost any shape imaginable in steel and aluminum, which is half the battle if you're not as rich as Jeff Koons and his ilk. Tom, who runs the scrap section, is a great guy and and a great welder and does not mind sharing a tip of two to a mediocre welder like me. The photo shows my latest entitled :Get Off My Lawn You KIds!"

Very nice people, doing a great job! All of them are very helpful and polite. Everytime I have been there I have not had to wait very long at all. They put you through fairly quickly. All of the associates there are very friendly and nice. Never had an issue and got our check in a timely matter. Hard working gentleman I appreciate.

Fist time ever been there and not good experience! Went in to buy some unistrut , after asking multiple people who to ask about purchasing which looked like they worked there didn't speak at all just shook their heads and said no no no? Now I'm thinking... ok now what? Finally someone came over to me and didn't say a word just watching till I asked them how all this works. I put a piece of unistrut on the scale which was about 3 ft long probably max 5 lbs and he told me it was $9 @ $1 lbs for scrap. When I asked him what time they closed he said 4pm but they kick out the customer at 330 . He didn't have kind words for the management. Don't think I will be going there again.

Great place, although prices may be slightly lower than other places at times. But they more than make up for that with outstanding customer service, a welcoming atmosphere and a great cast of employees to assist you and help you throughout your visit here. With 6+ years of doing business here on an almost daily basis, I've come to feel like I'm doing business with friends. This is a feeling that I've noticed all returning customers share over time.

Pros: they have a decent selection Cons: 1. ridiculously high price to purchase scrap steel 2.Either they have a -6 pound tear to the scale. Meaning they add 6 pounds to your order. Or the guy doing the weighing is a little bit shady. You can clearly see the scale when you weigh your metal. The total price he gave me was 6 pounds more than what the scale said. I’m unlikely to return.

I had a 5-Star experience with Tom this AM. I have been making a live edge wood slab coffee table. My design was not stable enough. With Tom's experience, expertise and customer service he led me to products and instruction on how I can correct my problem. Thank you 😁 Tom and 🍒 Cherry City Metals.

Great, friendly people and fair prices. Also, they're open to the public for your hobby and crafting needs. (Currently VERY low on sheet metal, but plenty of everything else. $1 a pound for steel)

The safety here is taken seriously and they are above par! Price is better in Portland. However, customer service makes up for the price! Very helpful and nice. Woman at scale and the cashier were both drop dead gorgeous!!

I agree with the other guy who checked the website, loaded up and found them closed. The web site clearly states that they will be closed on thanksgiving day only. I too, after checking the site, loaded up my trailer and headed in. I found them closed and couldn’t use my trailer the rest of the weekend because it was loaded with steel. It would be helpful if they would update their web site to accurately reflect their actual hours of operation and closure.

Got lots of stuff for metal projects you may have in mind. Office staff real friendly, yard folks "just doing their job" attitudes. Not rude but certainly not friendly or "glad to help". They will help, IF you go find them and are willing to wait until they "get around to you". I will keep going there because of the selection: A "Metal worker's playland!"

Best day ever! I spent a good portion of my day at Cherry city metal recycling looking for some stainless steel for cabinet I'm making to hold my Tormek grinding machine. I spent my day with Tom one of the employees there he was so friendly and kind and patient. I had a big smile on my face. It felt like I was a kid again scavenging for parts to fix one of my bicycles. Of course I walked away with a lot more "invention" ideas, a big smile on my face and a new friend.

Went with a family member in their pick up and trailer to unload a load of sheet metal. When you arrive your vehicle is weighed and you are given a ticket, don't loose this ticket. You need it in the aluminum area and you need it when you are leaving. They have two main areas you unload your Sheetmetal - one for'tin' one for 'aluminum', they direct you where to go. Before you come there it is best to separate the metal types if you can, if you unload all in the tin area you will get less money, aluminum, brass, copper etc. pays more. If you have your metal separated then unload the aluminum etc. first, then go to the main area where you might be lucky and the big'grabber' or magnet will unload your vehicle for you. Otherwise if you need to separate it to find the aluminum etc. , tell the guy you want to do it yourself. They are very helpful and will help you if they have time. I have found the workers always helpful and pleasant. You have to be aware here, as there are several grabber and magnet machines always working sorting and moving different metal types from one area to another, and unloading vehicles; forklifts running here and there, but I have never seen anyone hurt. When you are ready to leave you go and get weighed again on the way out and your receipt/ ticket is updated. You go park in the parking area, go to the office and turn your ticket in. You get paid in cash for tin, and a check is sent to you for aluminum, bread, copper etc. Be prepared, this place is popular and you wait in line as needed to enter, to unload, to weigh in leaving and in the office . But it is worth it and is a fun experience. If you are handicapped at all it is best to be the passenger and stay in the vehicle and leave the moving around outside the truck to the able-bodied. Also I don't believe you can bring children into the area, you MIGHT be able to if they stay in the vehicle but you should call and find out, to be on the safe side.

Red Toyota Tacoma traveling on Cherry Ave at ~2pm on 12/30/22 with white CCM logos on door needs to learn to control their emotions and be more profesional. Taking your frustrations out on people via road rage is unacceptable.

To the owners of Cherry City Metals: I would like to bring to your attention the level of service from one of your employees. I am a home builder and remodeler. I was there to find specific metal for a project I am doing. Tom in the resale yard went above and beyond. Tom not only helped me find what I needed, but as I explained my project to him, he came up with ideas and solutions that I had not considered. Tom also did a couple of things that will only enhance the look and feel of this special project. As a business owner myself, It was refreshing to work with an employee who has an attitude of an owner. What a valuable asset you have, Please express my appreciation to Tom for his enthusiasm and his level of service and professionalism.

Dropped off a large aluminum tool for recycling. They were quick to get it unloaded and send me on my way. They have a well-laid out facility and staff at the weigh house that can tell you exactly where to go. I'm headed back Monday afternoon with another huge aluminum tool. Looking forward to going back.
