I got stuck in the sand out by Slab City. Hawkins towing was capable and fast and very much appreciated and quite expensive. Don't drive in the sand if you can't pay the man.

We got stuck on a backroad (near the warm springs) 10 miles out of town and AAA would not lift a finger. Contacted Manual at 7pm and he set off straight away, despite it being his kid's birthday. Spent a long time hunting for us but got there. Very friendly, very competent and very open about the pricing and deliverables. While we hate being in this situation, Manual is definitely the person to go to. It's expensive but we accept that as being the price for our own stupidity.
