LKQ Pick Your Part - Chula Vista (West) JunkYard Reviews
3.7 stars based on 30 reviews- PPepe Duarte Jurado
We find our bumper reinforcement , headlights, good customer service, these is the place for all you needs, for original OEM parts , hoods, doors , bumpers , engines, relays, sensors, download the LKQ app to know when they pulled out the vehicles you need parts, but hurry up, because , is a gang of guys taking the parts out, and they’re trying to selling the part outside in the parking lot 4 times the price you’ll paid at the register
- JJesse Daner
If you need car parts this is the place to go. I just wandered around for almost an hour looking for cars and parts that I needed. There are people there to help you pull parts for a price and also the staff is very friendly. The woman at the front who is Security is super chill. Just make sure to bring your tools because you have to pick your own parts but other than that it’s a perfect place it’s a boy‘s dream.

$3 admission. They tend to keep cars a few months, so it's best to first call them to see if they have your model/year car in inventory -- and how long it has been there. We went looking for a Prius headlight but the cars we needed were there for over a month and too well picked over. All that was left were car-casses. ;-) Ended up going to Riverside where a 1 day old wreck was stored. Calling in advance also let's you understand where the damage is located. In our case we needed the front end intact.

Couldn't agree more with the negative reviews below. This place have gone from bad to worse and I will be glad when they go bankrupt. I miss the old Pick your part before 2018 which is when the downfall began, whoever took charge of this company after that date killed this great business, what an horrendous and incompetent new management. I was a customer for 20 years but not anymore, the cashiers and the managers have been ultra rude for the past 5 years and now they're charging you for even the smallest screw, not to mention that they treat you like you were some disgusting criminal, prices are so high now that it doesn't make sense to go anymore, a seat and a bumper and your bill can be almost $500, utterly ridiculous. Amazed by their level of incompetence, greed and their willingness to deceive you, never seen anything like it in any business ever.

The car dump is very old. There are no normal cars. We were looking for a bumper and headlight for a Honda Civic, but we couldn’t find it here. The cashier was asked how much the part cost, she said $20. We went in for disassembly, removed the part from the car, came to pay, it turned out that the price of the part had risen 2.5 times in 30 minutes. They didn't take it, they wasted their time.

This review is for the Domestics yard specifically. Every time I come here, I leave annoyed, angry, and ripped off (4 times so far). The ladies that work the cashier register are always rude and abrasive. I always try to be pleasant and courteous, but their demeanor is as if they look down on us filthy peasants. They will nickel and dime you until the part you are buying is more expensive than a brand new one. I pulled two steering wheels and when it was time to pay, the lady told me that the built in cruise control switches are going to be extra $20 per wheel! She even wanted to tack on an extra $13 for the horn buttons. I told her that I had bought a steering wheel at the Chula Vista East yard, literally the day before, and the cashier there just charged me for a steering wheel. She then proceeded to tell me that is the way it is and would not give any discounts or make any deals. So unless you absolutely need a very specific part that you can't find anywhere else, go to the East yard, go to the Oceanside yard, go online, go anywhere but the Chula Vista West Domestics yard. I really don't understand their business model. I see piles of parts that people have left because they turn out to be way more expensive than expected. Those parts likely WILL NOT bring any money, so why not make deals? Some dollars is better than pennies for recycled material. It just doesn't make any sense. All the other yards in Chula Vista are way better to deal with.

Pretty good place to find parts but the people at the front were passive aggressive. And once you go to the front to pay they assume you want the 90 day guarantee. It cost me an extra 25 dollars. Before leaving I checked my receipt and noticed this and ask the workers at the front if I could get the 90 day guarantee refunded. To which he said once it’s on paper they can’t refund it. Then I asked why wasn’t I asked if I wanted it or not and they said they don’t have time to ask. In my opinion this is quite unprofessional and if you’re stealing money from the customers then you won’t keep good business. That being said they have a good variety and the online search is very useful.

4.5 rating: The best junkyard for car parts. They have a website where you can check if they actually have your car so you don’t waste time and gas. Make sure you bring your own tools and if you’re looking for heavy parts they have wheelbarrows. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only downside (hence the 4.5 instead of 5 stars) is finding your vehicle. Even with the location on the website the rows aren’t clearly labeled so you kinda have to look around. Also SUVs/Vans are separate from sedans/coupes. Other than that it’s awesome!

This place is pricey now, for a fuse box (they’ll charge you for the fuses that’s on it, also if it can be removed from the part they will charge you) charging me $200 for any vehicle. Price supposed to be cheaper since you take them out yourself. I’m not sure maybe the guy in the counter was ringing me up for something else because he didn’t know what part it is not only that they rude as hell like the people in the DMV. They’ll charge you arm and a leg for used parts. Before you pull parts out ask for the price first before you waste your time. Might as well go to the regular auto wrecking and they’ll take off the parts off for you. This place is not like before. Ecology was better.

Boycott until March 2024 (6 months). You gonna learn the hard way when the money stops coming-in, and hopefully you'll learn to respect your regulars who keep your lights on for you. Here are some things to consider until March 2024. Lower prices on parts, core fees, and environmental fees. Also more gravel or pavement in the yards(working in the mud is not fun), more carts, and restrooms throughout the yard. Will check back in March. Good luck!

Horrible pricing. Entry fee $3. Bracket $15. (With warranty $19). An $18 bracket that i had to pull off only costs $7.74 on line. I had the cashier Google the part. She confirmed $7.74. She said the "Company" has set prices. Save your money, time, and effort and buy online.

The staff were helpful and finding everything was easy. The lot had every model car I've ever known of domestic wise, evem some I've never seen. Very easy and affordable for any amd all parts you may need for your vehicle. Also for military, they do have a discount. Higgly reccomend.

Great day at this yard. I spent five hours picking parts, chatting up with a man who helps remove parts, the employees and staff are great and very respectful. There are so many vehicles and all of them are imports. There are plenty of parts available. I highly recommend this spot. I passed the time singing loud 📢 and happy. Bring a hat! No, bring a sombrero! It was hot the day I spent here and my face, neck and bald head got sunburn 🥵.
- DDevon Morse
Plenty of parts. Some ok prices. Watch out for the ones working the parts counter, check your receipt before you leave. They added 63 dollars worth of "guarantees" to my bill and I didn't notice till later. LAME. Get your parts in Mexico the tacos are better anyways.
- CCeasar
The yard is fine, except for that butch lady at the entrance. She has no respect for your parts. She tossed my parts around, causing some damage to them. Everyone else was fine and respectful. I recommend you avoid that lady at all costs.
- KKevin
This junkyard charges just as much if not more than a brand new part. I came in to fetch a window regulator for a 98 civic and the total cost was $50. A brand new regulator goes for $70.....this place is a scam. You're better off buying brand new parts.
- FFlavio Valerdi
They don't know that some prices is almost the same if you bought the identical item by internet ( You can check the price list in the web page of this business) and you not need disassembly that part and lost your time looking for that part under the sun so I suggest you check that part on internet probably you'll be find a little less prices before you go and even some business they send you for free that part to your address and another thing you not need to pay extra charge for the guarantee, core and taxes and finally you save gas, time and the entrance at this places. I recommend to this business to offer less prices than internet included the guarantee And free entrance. Sorry but it's true.
- KKhal Khtri
Be aware of additional fees that are being overcharged. Ensure that that the front desk associate shows you the correct price and item that is being charged. Make sure that they are also not charging you extra for gaurentee without your authorization for parts you know are not very essential or cost very little. This has been going on for some time until someone has warned me about this.
- KKen McEathron
Car yard is well organized And staff ready to help and very friendly. Parts easy to find at the lot. You can also go online to check to see if they have a part before you go there. Also you can view the stock they have online to save you a trip if they don’t have a part but they often do. Parts are well priced.
- HHumberto Barraza
I should of gone with my gut at this one. Went there looking for a Acura break master cylinder. Found the car took it off and went back to see what price they were gonna give me so I can pay for it. I looked online before I got to the clerk and new they were 45 online. Got to the clerk and she said 45 for the one I had taken off. So I said to her they are that price new online. So I just left it there and I left. I had read negative reviews and I should of gone with my gut. Will never go back to this junk yard. They are ripping people off . It's supposed to be a junkyard.
- JJust “Bugsy” Because
Sold them my Chevy Suburban yesterday. Got a check for $500. Cannot cash the check anywhere, not even Bank of America. The guy that wrote the check scribbled out part of my middle name so it looks like an attempt to pass bad check. Called pick a part about it yesterday and was told I'd hear back within 5 minutes. Have never been called back. Sold my vehicle for a worthless piece of paper

This is a great place to find parts for your car. Understanding the numerical system on the location of the car you're looking for is a bit confusing but once you figure it out you can find what you're looking for. So it's important to go on their website to find the car and the location of the car before you arrive. The reason I gave it three stars is because there is little or no customer service. There's no explanation there's no help in finding anything on the lot. The gentleman that who are on the front gates are of little help at all and find it more important to be on their cell phones then to help you. Important things to remember it's a junk yard and it's dirty and you have to bring your own tools. Makes for an adventurous day. Picking your own parts off of these old cars saves you a significant amount of money. Would definitely do it again and would recommend. My only fault with LKQ Pick Your Part is it has very poor customer service.
- SSteven Williams
Great selection of cars. But the prices are a little high. In some cases I could spend a few more dollars and get the parts brand new. Also the parts they are charging you for are different than what's listed on the website. They need to update the parts price list so it matches what they're charging you.
- SSydney Quick
This place was great other than the fact that the young girl at the checkout likes to over charge you & charge you for the 30 day warranty without asking. Got super defensive when we questioned the price on the parts we were purchasing. Tossed the receipt at us without a word and we tried walking away, told us we needed to sign, again got super defensive when we told her she should’ve said something instead of tossing it at us. I now understand why literally everyone that was in front of us were frustrated by the end of their transaction. Someone needs to work on their customer service skills.
- AAnthony McCarlson
So they have a large sign out front that says they offer a full refund for 30 days after purchase. I went in to return the radiator I just bought yesterday and the woman out front tells me "offer" means you have to buy the warranty. What the heck? No one told me that yesterday when I asked. "FALSE ADVERTISING". They have crazy prices for a salvage yard anyway, I paid $40 and a $10 core charge on the radiator there, and I just bought a brand new one for $135 no core charge or nothing. The woman there is always super rude also, diggimg through my box like I'm a criminal or something. Stop touching my stuff, I'll move it for you if that's what you want. I'm just super annoyed by their sign that claims a return policy with no explanation that you need to purchase some additional warranty. If you put a large sign out front please do what you say your going to do. I will not be going to this yard again, ever.
- JJorge Licea
Cashier member was extremely rude and wanted to charge me more for the part than what it costs brand new at O'Reilly auto. I went ahead and added to her huge pile of parts that others before me had left due to her gouging everyone.
- RRicardo Zapata
I have fune when I go here. Its pretty to see what you can find for ride.
- RRosario Garcia
Cashier NEVER asked me if want GUARANTEE n ending payed a HIGHER amount. Good thing I was able to go back and ask for the refund of Guarantee money. If u don’t plan to guarantee ur parts…. SAY IT before they charge u !
- JJulio Contreras
Went to sell my vehicle that was running perfectly fine. Arrived at the location, and was told to call a number instead of being helped in person. Got quoted 300 and was given a check for 280. This place lowballed me and was stubborn on not negotiating. The fact that even even shorted me 20 bucks without explanation is really sketchy. I’m not sure what type of business they’re running here. Probably not sustainable which is why they have to rip people off.
- BBill Hames
I went for auto glass, they told me '10 used same as '09. Not true. Anyway, it's a great place to get parts on the cheap. They're pretty organized for a yard.
