HORRIBLE PLACE! I was told on phone that they take cans n plastics, I go there, it's huge & UNORGANIZED, HAZMAT VIOLATIONS IN PLAIN SITE. After pulling into 3 of their driveways, I finally get where I need to be, BUT ITS 4:08PM!! I beg them to please help, I explained I was giving the run-around by 3 of their employees, & it's important I get gas cuz I'm stranded..I begged!! I was close to tears!! I'm usually bitchy, but I NEEDED THEM! IM including pics w the guy's face, I hope he gets fired. And a screenshot of the time as I stood begging. Now I'm crying, n stranded.

If you are bringing large items of scrap iron you need to go thru the gate on Doolittle and follow traffic in a circular track that will lead you to the scale and one car at a time on the scale, while waiting in line ask the yard guys were you should dump your scrap after being weighted saves you time when you are done getting weighted and if you are turning in aluminum or plastic you need to go and park your car on Davis and grab a cart or can then go inside .

Been buying metal here for 10 years, they were always a little surly but I put up with it because there isn’t much else around. Here’s what I really don’t understand: they have time to cut up metal into little $4 pieces for guys like me, but they have a $75 minimum because they don’t want guys like me wasting their time. My apologies to Alco, I won’t ever waste your precious time again.

After being a client of this place for over a year and continuously observing their practices I have found that the staff is very slow and tends to favour those clients who are not white and retaliate even when they are in the wrong. We have bent over backwards to be courteous to them and they will still make you wait if they dont like you or just are having a bad day. Very unprofessional and offputting. Use their services at your own risk.

The place is always busy and it looks like it never shut down but it does. At times it takes about an hour or 2 to complete the process of recycling your load. But they only pay .07$ per lbs. With a min. Of 300 lbs. To get paid so be prepared before you go.

Quick, and easy place to turn in your collected metals for recycling. Located on Doolittle Drive in San Leandro near the Oakland Airport which is a busier industrial street. When you pull into their gate doors, know that they do a really heavy loads so there are a lot of big trucks being offloaded by guys on forklifts, so you have to come alert of your surroundings. They do not accept aluminum cans or plastic bottles!

I went to the metal supply shop, not the recycling center. They were great. Serviced immediately, and I asked for the wrong stuff. When I came back they redid my order for me without any complaints or comments. They helped me load and off I went. I would definitely recommend them.

Love this place. I have scrapped everything from car parts to aluminum cans and batteries always helpful and nice. One thing I would like to see is extended hours like Wednesday and Friday 7am-5pm or 6pm that would be really helpful.

Worse service, the first time I came at 11:30AM and I got sent back because the employ told that the place was closed and supossably on Saturday's the closing hour is at 12:00PM, and the second time I had 600 pounds of glass in black bags and I was only paid for 500 of them for the tare. I don't think that the black bags were 100 pounds, I don't reccomend this place.

You gotta be careful before they start weighting your aluminum cans or plastics bottles and check how many pounds they write on the paper, and the tare pounds too, because they always write more tare pounds and less net pounds than you bring , ex. In my case ,I brought 43.9 pounds of plastic bottles and they wrote only 43 pounds instead of 44, and when you know about it is "too late" because they already started the process. Today was the last day that I go over there, so if you planning to go , just keep on mind all that.

Expect the most expensive steel outside of Home Depot or OSH. Do not ask them to fabricate anything, they will get it wrong, often. Want a sheet cut in anything other than half? Bring a diagram cus they will get that wrong, too. Calling in to Will Call is barely faster than standing at the counter. I’d rather pay PDM a delivery fee than give this company another damn dollar.

Worse place ever!!!!!! Kim kantor should be a damn Shame of himself the way this business is running. Management is very rude and very prejudice about the customers that come in for business and also employees are very unprofessional. I speak Spanish myself and the employees sure do a lot of cursing very unprofessional, no go for alco!!!!

In the three times bringing valuable material to Alco I experienced the following: 1. Questionable weights 2. Inconsistent weights 3. Questionable claims of material composition 4. Possible material pollution on a load I asked to be returned because of claim of composition. 4 times a charm and I wont be bringing them anything valuable again.

They are great for picking up remnant material for small projects, but their prices are incredible high considering the material is all random with gnarly surfaces and scared up.

One of their forklift workers hit my truck and they end up not wanting to pay for my damages. They said it was my fault for asking if they had a forklift which is absurd. Never going back here again.

Alco Metal is a go to metal supply wharehouse in the East Bay. There are lots of metals to choose from, for large or small jobs. I usually find what I'm looking for between the scrap metal and the stockpile they have.
